Avalon Golf Estate
Shandrani Beachcomber also has preferential rates at Avalon Golf Estate, situated approximately 30mins from the resort. The Par 72 course was designed by renowned South Africa golf architect, Peter Matkovich, and is a wonderful course designed to maximise the natural contours of its tropical bush landscape. Being set on the highland wind can come into play meaning there's a different golfing challenge from one day to the next, but the first four downhill holes with beautiful views over the southern coast line will always get you off to a good start. Water Sports
With its location, on Blue Bay, Shandrani is the perfect spot for water sports and there's plenty of free sports including; water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing, glass bottom boat trips, snorkelling trips, kayaks and pedal boats.
Shandrani Beachcomber now has a dedicated water-ski academy where guests can have one to one lessons (4 sessions per week, 30 minutes per session)
Land Sports
Shandrani has 6 floodlit tennis courts (hard courts, Head tennis racket hire is complimentary however tennis balls will need to be purchased), table tennis, volley ball and bocci ball. The hotel offers weekly free group tennis lessons and a pro is on hand for private lessons. Mountain bikes are also available.
Fitness Guests at Shandrani may make use of the gymnasium which has machines and free weights and offers a number of aerobic classes.
Bee Tour
This fun environmental learning experience is a guided tour of the beehives placed at Shandrani Beachcomber, with the aim of raising awareness of the vital role of bees in biodiversity. The Bee Tour is a safe way to discover the beehives, and to see first-hand how the bees live together in a colony and understand, through explanatory panels, how a hive works. You’ll discover the essential role these pollinating insects play as well as the threats facing them. The tour will begin with an illustrated presentation of the life of bees to become familiar with them before an encounter with these insects. This will be followed by an interactive bee-watching session with the Bee Tour host to learn about how they live and the tour will end with a taste of the honey from our gardens.

Enjoy thrilling encounters with the island's fascinating wildlife, combined with a choice of energetic sporting activities - including mountain biking, trekking, canoeing and canyoning. Whichever you choose, you can take part at a level that suits your skills and confidence. To help ensure your safety, you'll always be accompanied by a qualified instructor and use equipment that's regularly checked and maintained at the peak of efficiency.
Designed to bring out the best of the unspoiled landscape of southern Mauritius, the activities include guided bike trips, visiting the natural bridge and uncovering the history and vibrant culture of the seaside village of Mahebourg. You can even explore the famous wildlife sanctuary of Ile aux Aigrettes and enjoy the chance to spot rare endangered wildlife including the almost extinct Pink Pigeon. Rather than being competitive, the half-day excursions are geared towards spending time with family and friends according to individual levels of fitness. The Beachcomber Sport & Nature programme is at an additional cost.
Deep Sea Fishing
Mauritius offers excellent deep-sea fishing in season. Numerous fishing charter companies on the island offer half and full-day trips on fully equipped specialist fishing boats. Trips can be booked at your hotel when you are on the island. The best season for big game fishing is between November and March.
