OZEN LIFE MAADHOO

OZEN LIFE MAADHOO sits in South Malé Atoll on the island of Maadhoo, reached by a deluxe speedboat of about 45 minutes from Velana International Airport. It is part of THE OZEN COLLECTION and has about 94 villas, beachfront and overwater, in a barefoot-luxury setting with an underwater restaurant, ELE|NA spa and the INDULGENCE all-inclusive plan.

When we stayed here, we were in a Wind Villa, one of the overwater villas. What struck us most was the barefoot-luxury feel of the island, and the highlight of the stay was dinner at M6m, the underwater restaurant six metres below the lagoon.

Accommodation runs from Earth Villas (191m²) and Earth Villas with Pool (165m²) on the beach, through Wind Villas (85m²), Wind Villas with Jacuzzi & Slide (86m²) and Wind Villas with Pool (112m²) over the lagoon, to the two-bedroom Earth Pool Pavilion (320m²) and THE OZEN RESIDENCE (554m²). Ask us which category suits your trip. Most one-bedroom villas sleep three adults, or two adults with a child; the Pavilion and Residence take larger families or groups.

Dining centres on THE PALMS for all-day international meals, with specialty restaurants on the INDULGENCE plan: Tradition IndoCeylon, Tradition Peking, LONU (Maldivian small plates, lunch, adults only) and M6m (underwater seafood; dinner is adults only). Joie de Vivre is the pool bar and pizzeria, Gin Is In is the adults-only gin bar, and Hudhu Bay is the beach club (dinner on selected nights at extra cost; ask us). In-villa dining is available; ask us.

There is no swimmable house reef beside the island; instead, complimentary snorkel kit and twice-daily snorkel shuttles (about 09:00 and 15:00, weather permitting) run to nearby sites on INDULGENCE. Dolphin Base is the PADI dive centre and watersports hub. On land there is a large lagoon-facing pool at Joie de Vivre, KUDA KOMAS kids club, OZENERGY fitness, and the overwater ELE|NA spa.

Overall, OZEN LIFE MAADHOO is a five-star-plus choice for couples and honeymooners who want a short South Malé speedboat transfer, a generous all-inclusive plan and the chance to dine underwater at M6m, and it also works well for families who want beach villas with pools or a two-bedroom pavilion rather than a large, busy resort.

Our tips

• We stayed in a Wind Villa over the lagoon: barefoot luxury, with M6m underwater dining the clear highlight.
• Book M6m and the Tradition restaurants early in the stay; they need a reservation and fill up, especially at dinner.
• Ask us which villa category to book (Earth, Wind, Jacuzzi & Slide, Wind with Pool, Pavilion or Residence), especially if a private pool, a water slide or soft sand right outside matters most.
• Ask us about the current INDULGENCE inclusions, including how many specialty dinners, spa treatments or dives are covered for your length of stay.
• Use your butler's WhatsApp on day one to lock in M6m, Tradition and any spa or dive slots.

What recent guests tell us

• Book M6m for dinner as soon as you arrive; dinner is adults only (from about 12), while lunch is more family-friendly.
• Tradition IndoCeylon and Tradition Peking also need early reservations and are closed on Fridays.
• Snorkel shuttles usually leave around 09:00 and 15:00; there is no strong house reef to snorkel from the beach, so the boats matter.
• Pack reef shoes or sturdy water shoes for villa ladders and lagoon entry.
• Mosquitoes can be noticeable around greener beach villas and at dusk; pack insect repellent.
• Wind Villas with Jacuzzi & Slide are popular with families who want a playful overwater stay.

For couples

OZEN LIFE MAADHOO has a strong couples and honeymoon feel, with overwater Wind villas, private pools on many categories and M6m underwater dining as a signature evening. ELE|NA spa has overwater treatment rooms for couples; ask us about packages and what is included in any honeymoon offer at the time of booking. Sunset cruises and sunset fishing are complimentary once per guest per stay on INDULGENCE (weather permitting).

For families

Families are welcome. Most one-bedroom villas take three adults, or two adults with a child. The Earth Pool Pavilion (two bedrooms) is the natural family choice, and Wind Villas with Jacuzzi & Slide suit guests who want a playful overwater stay. KUDA KOMAS kids club runs organised activities roughly 09:00 to 18:00; in-villa babysitting is available at extra cost for children from about three. Ask us about child rates, cot availability and which villa will give you the easiest beach access with little ones.

Spa

ELE|NA (Elements of Nature) sits over the water with single and double treatment rooms, each with a private outdoor area overlooking the lagoon. Treatments draw on a wide range of therapies and rituals; ask us about the current menu. Guests on INDULGENCE receive spa or dive credits that scale with the length of stay. OZENERGY is the fitness centre; personal training is at extra cost.

Sports and activities

Complimentary on INDULGENCE in the main: snorkel kit for the stay, unlimited snorkelling excursion shuttles twice a day (weather permitting), non-motorised water sports (windsurfing, catamaran, canoe, stand-up paddleboard), sunset cruise and sunset fishing once per guest per stay, kids club, and fitness centre access. At extra cost: PADI diving with Dolphin Base beyond any included dive credits, motorised water sports, lessons, and further excursions. Location

South Malé Atoll, about 45 minutes by deluxe speedboat from Velana International Airport (Malé). Transfers run 24 hours a day. Guests are met at the airport and escorted to THE OZEN COLLECTION lounge before boarding. No seaplane is needed, which keeps arrival and departure flexible.
