The City of Chicago sits on the shore of Lake Michigan in Illinois. It was once the stomping ground of gangsters such as Al Capone and Baby Face Nelson, and it has evolved into a modern metropolis complete with modern art installations and architectural marvels.
Millennium Park is a great first stop for new visitors to the city. The centre piece of the large open area is the iconic reflective Bean sculpture, and there are plenty of other public art pieces to take in. The park is also home to an ice rink and outdoor theatre.
The Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium, some of the city’s best cultural attractions, can all be found in the Museum Campus park on the lakeshore.
Shoppers will delight at the impressive range of retail offerings on Michigan Avenue – known as the Magnificent Mile. As well as exclusive shops, department stores and boutiques, the Mile features some of the city’s most important historic buildings.
