Orlando may be America’s biggest and best family-friendly holiday destination. Situated in the centre of sunny Florida, the weather is warm all year round.
The main attraction for many is the plethora of theme parks. Walt Disney World may be the most famous, home to Mickey Mouse and all his friends and featuring rides and shows based on Disney’s pantheon of popular movie characters. Universal Studios follows a similar vein, featuring lovable characters such as Harry Potter, the Minions, and Spongebob Squarepants. SeaWorld Orlando has aquatic-themed rollercoasters, animal shows and close encounters with underwater life. Gatorland is a wildlife centre with alligator feeding shows and a zipline to carry you over gator-infested swamps. Those after a religious experience should visit Holy Land Experience, a Christian-themed park with shows and musicals.
If you want a break from theme parks, try out the mind-bending Science Center or Old Town, an imitation of a classic Florida frintier town, complete with wooden storefront facades and historic architecture.
