Trip Advisor Reviews

Highly recommend!

23 May 2023 | HelenO599

We visited here in February and absolutely loved the resort. The staff were very welcoming from the outset and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely room overlooking the ocean which enjoyed beautiful views of the sunsets in the evenings. The option to dine in various restaurants ensured that you would not tire of having to eat in the same place every day. I would strongly advise to make your reservations on your first day to avoid disappointment. Our personal favourite was Infinity Blue, especially for lunch. Fantastic food and lovely views of the sea. We returned here many times during our 9 night stay. The staff at the beach bar were great. The cocktails were delicious and the service was excellent. The pool side bar staff were also very friendly and were always on hand to replenish drinks and nothing was too much trouble. The evening entertainment was varied and thoroughly enjoyable. We made use of the gym every morning which had lots of machines and equipment. It was too hot for us to play tennis but the courts were of a good standard. There were many activities to choose from if you did not want to laze in the sun all day. The manager Jerome was always on hand and very engaging with us and all the guests. It makes a difference to see management of hotels so visible. All in all it was a fantastic stay and I would highly recommend a visit here.

The device was fantastic

A memorable escape to Heritage Awali in Bel Ombre

22 May 2023 | j0hnJ2602

We have stayed at Heritage Awali from 19 till 21 May 2023 and had an amazing experience. We have been pampered from the moment we arrived. The staff went out of their ways to please us and the resort's facilities and activities were top-notch. We highly recommend Heritage Awali for an unforgettable getaway.

Great resort but needs improvement

My family and I stayed here for just over a week to celebrate my mums 60th birthday. Overall, the resort itself was stunning and the facilities were on point. Pros: - As mentioned, the resort is beautiful and generally very clean. The sustainability aspect is a major plus too. - Staff are generally lovely. Shamila and her cleaning staff ensured rooms were always clean and the turn down service was great too. The lady at ice cream at night or pancakes in the mornings and the lady that made omelettes were very friendly too - sorry forgot their names. Most staff were great - Nikhil, Kishan, Akash, Keshav and Varsha to name a few. - The golf course is beautiful and challenging and I would definitely recommend. - Food was generally really good, however, depended on the nights theme. Chef Francis was amazing and often catered for my mum (as sometimes, there was not many options for her). My Grandma was veggie and had good options too. Unfortunately, did not get a chance to go to Ginja but heard positive reviews from guests and it was a beautiful setting on the beach. - For lunch, the mauritian noodles, calamari, Katsu burger and pizza are all delicious. - BOMA was AMAZING. The experience was fantastic and the food could not be faulted. Best food we had during our stay. The ribs, prawns and chicken were just amazing. However, only beer and wine is served and only lasts about 2 hours. - The quality of drinks is great and the selections of cocktails are good. Beer is great too and minibar is included in your room. Try the phoenix fresh during the day. - Lunch at C beach and the Golf club (needs booking) is included. Did not get a chance to eat at the golf club but the menu looked good. C beach food was OK but desserts were superb! - C beach itself was beautiful. They had some sort of bean bag floaters which was a nice touch and day beds on the beach. The vibe was amazing. - The spa was just incredible. The free massage was excellent and very relaxing and Numrutha was very knowledgeable about what she did. The steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and plunge pool were great and very relaxing. - Wheelchair and pushchair friendly and disabled room was good. It had a separate bathroom for disabled access which was handy. If needed, you can get a helper. - The pools were all great. I might be wrong, but it seemed like it was filtered water. There was definitely no harsh chemicals used in the pools. My skin is sensitive and it was not affected at all, nor did our eyes burn. We did not get any chemical smell on our skin or costumes after so this was a huge plus. - There are bar snacks around 6pm at the main bar which is nice, however, once it finishes, it finishes, so recommend going early. - Jean- pierre and his team were great in helping to organise a delicious cake for my mums bday celebrations and went out of their way to set us up in a private beach setting one night. Raj and his team were very friendly. - There was a managers cocktail night which was great. Snacks and drinks were on point. There was also rum tasting which was fantastic. - Glass bottom boat is included, but note that you will need to go to C beach to sign a form which is annoying. Boat leaves from the coco shack which is much closer to the hotel than C beach. Cons: - The biggest disadvantage, in my experience is that the service was often slow at certain times. Lunch at amafrooty took A LONG TIME to come. When the main bar was quite busy, service there was often poor too. We once waited for 40 minutes for our drinks to be served. The bar management should think about getting a few more bartenders/waiters as the excuse we had was "there is a long list of orders" and this was extremely poor for a 5 star hotel. Attention here is definitely required as service makes up alot of a "5 star" hotel. - Check in was very slow and took almost a whole hour. Rooms seemed like they were not ready and this was slightly annoying as we had golf booked not long after check in. - It took some time for someone to offer us welcome drinks and only after someone saw us taking it ourselves, did someone come over to offer them to us. - There are too few toilets for how big the resort is and you may find yourself queuing up for the toilets near the pool often. - Whilst there is a pool attendant, when the pool is busy, you will find yourself waiting for some time to get your drink. It wouldn't hurt the hotel getting one or two more to help out. - The beach has small stones and rocks which can be hurtful but the water is clear. Take some beach shoes. The current is quite strong so if you have kids, you will need to be very careful. Snorkelling near the rocks is great but again, watch out for the current. - The indian restaurant (Zafarani) food was quite disappointing, Although some dishes were good, the food was cold and lacked much taste. Definitely our least favourite. - If you stayed more than a week, lunch options can become quite repetitive. Even C beach had similar options. The last couple of days, they had run out of Mauritian noddles which was disappointing as it was something our family were looking forward to. - Rooms could do with a bit of an update. There is a weird damp smell and had it in all 5 of our rooms. Keeping the AC on helps a little with this. - Water sports are all the way at C beach so you would need to go there and back once you are done. Things to note: - There is a shuttle bus to the Golf club, Tel Fair and C beach. - There are usually bar snacks at the main bar at 6pm (if I remember correctly) but once they finish they don’t make any more so if you want some, go there early. - Book restaurants and golf via email before arrival as bookings get filled quick (perhaps after requesting for the weekly buffet menu).

Good quality all-inclusive for couples and families alike

We had a really great stay at the Heritage Awali. Firstly, the service across the board was excellent, but particularly Daniel (who was so helpful when it came to my wife's dietary restrictions and was always checking up on us) and Goovind (such a friendly and warm person, delivering great service with a smile but also going above and beyond). There was a good range of food at the various restaurants - definitely worth pre-booking a few days in advance for the a la carte restaurants - and as mentioned they were able to cater for gluten-free dietary restrictions very well. The beach was nice and very peaceful, always easy to get a lounger and only a few steps away from the hotel. The water was calm and a nice temperature but it was a bit rocky underfoot so sea shoes/sandals advisable. Also not the biggest beach so would recommend the short walk/free shuttle to the C Beach Club which has a bigger beach and is where you can do activities such as kayaking / pedalos from. Rooms were nice, clean, spacious and comfortable. They were regularly restocked and tidied (probably more than needed but not a criticism) but perhaps could be due a slight soft refurb in the not to distant future. Location is good too, especially if you are planning to mainly stay at the resort. The Black Rivers Gorge National Park and Chamarel are a short drive away and well worth visiting and we also spent a half day at Le Morne beach which was great too. Generally speaking for a 5 star all inclusive it's one of the best value and would recommend it. My only tiny "criticism" is I'm not sure it felt the most honeymoon-y hotel. There wasn't much extra / special done on top of the admittedly great inclusions you seem to get as standard and there were quite a lot of young families with babies / young children. Not a problem at all and didn't impact our stay but just something to bear in mind for those on their honeymoon.

A true 5 star experience

26 May 2023 | tonyl649

Having experienced two previous wonderful stays we returned for our 3rd trip in May. As soon as we arrived we received a warm and friendly welcome which continued throughout our stay. The staff, without exception, were kind, courteous, friendly and efficient in all areas, from reception to the restaurants, from the bar staff to housekeeping and not forgetting the golf club. The all inclusive package is something to enjoy and the varied restaurants offer something for everyone. We particularly love the golf at the fabulous Heritage Golf Club and thoroughly recommend lunch there afterwards. All in all, a great holiday destination and we can’t wait to return next year!

Disappointed.

26 May 2023 | NedEsteban

The property itself was very well managed and maintained however the service was shocking for a 5* everything is explained during check in we were told we had a free massage but when we went to the spa everything was already booked up, there’s too much information to process by the time you get to your room you’ve already forgotten. Also the restaurants all get booked by 5 so if you check in late good luck, the checkout process was a nightmare kept ringing my room telling me we need to check out even after telling them we will be 20 mins, there’s so many things wrong with the service that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Excellent

We have just returned from a week’s holiday at the Awali Golf and Spa in Bel Ombre, Mauritius. The hotel was beautiful. Set in amazing luscious grounds and based on an African theme. There were four totally individual restaurants serving a variety of food. All the staff were extremely attentive and friendly and went out of their way to help in any way they could. We would like to make special mention to the following staff who made our holiday so memorable: Ansha (housekeeping), Akilesh, Hansini and Varsha (restaurants and reservations) and Kishan (Zenzibar). David and Lynn - England

Great visit

29 May 2023 | Gerian

Lovely resort. Friendly and attentive staff. Attention to detail evident around hotel. Smells lovely and clean. Well laid out and never feel like you are crowded or there are lots of people. Lush gardens and lit up beautifully at night. Two swimming pools - one for adults only and one for families, which is heated. Enjoyed the food - good variety and have three restaurant options for dinner, besides general buffet: Italian, Indian, Mediterranean. Spa is worth a visit - again very friendly staff and after meeting us once remembered our names when we came back! Lots of activities to do - during a rainy day we played table tennis at the sports centre. Bikes to explore area as well. Would recommend chilling at bar for drinks after dinner as they have often had band, singers and entertainment. The C Beach Club is worth a visit: well laid out with loungers and beds to chill on, activities, pool and a restaurant. Also take a trip to golf course - we went to driving range and had lunch at the restaurant. Overall would recommend and enjoyed the stay!

Relaxing in paradise

29 May 2023 | WendyC736

My husband and I recently returned from a 7 night stay at the Heritage Awali. We had a fabulous time in what must be a paradise setting. Really beautiful. ARRIVAL: When we got out of our shuttle bus the drums quite literally were rolled for us so my excitement heightened. Alas it was short-lived. We walked into the hotel where there was no one to greet us and no welcome drink served. We noticed on other days that whenever new guests arrived they were given a drink. We did receive an apology but obviously the moment had passed. ROOM: We had booked a Deluxe Sea View room. Our room was on the 3rd floor right outside the children's swimming pool which made it rather noisy. The room itself was rather bland and reminded me of a safari lodge. But it was fine. The bed was very comfortable and the best part was the incredible pressure in the shower! Personally I found it very difficult to use the hairdryer in the bathroom. You have to keep your thumb on the button for it to work. Our room attendant did a wonderful job of keeping it clean. FOOD/RESTAURANTS: We absolutely loved eating at Kuzini and Infinity Blue. Kuzini was in fact our favourite and compliments to Boris who always made us feel special. We did not enjoy the buffet at Savana for dinner very much and I think a large part was due to the very bright lighting, too many babies/kids and the presentation of the food was very basic. We didn't, by choice, eat at Zafarani as we aren't too fond of very spicy food. Drinks at the pool/beach were wonderful and I enjoyed a good few Aperol Spritzers which were perfectly made. Pre-dinner drinks at the Zenzi bar were also enjoyable but once again there were too many children running around. This hotel requests that guests dress up for dinner. My issue with this is that whilst there are babies and children of all ages allowed in all the restaurants (except Zafarani) adults should not have to. Dressing up should only apply to an adult-only restaurant. BEACH/SWIMMING POOLS: The pools are beautifully maintained - always sparkling clean. We enjoyed the infinity pool which is in a perfect setting. The sea, as has been mentioned often in reviews, has a strong current and you definitely need swimming shoes due to the coral. No waves .... very shallow until you get really way out. Not being a confident swimmer I preferred to sit at the edge of the sea and then actually swim in the pool rather. GOLF: Hubby declared the golf fantastic!!! The course was beautifully maintained and the service there was great. We both enjoyed a lovely lunch there as well. Definitely worth a visit. SERVICE: Everyone tried their hardest and gave of their best with a smile. Special mention to Jean Paul who was always on hand, smile on his face, and managed to sort out any issue immediately. Full credit to him and I hope this hotel know what an asset he is. He is the epitome of great customer service provider. CHECK OUT: Was seamless and went well. We were however very surprised to see an amount of RS790 on our account. When we queried it we were told that it was for a charity (I think). This should be offered and discussed with the guests prior to simply adding it to the bill and not mentioning it. You can have it removed if requested. We relaxed, drank and ate to our hearts content and enjoyed!

A real disappointment for a hotel with so much potential

29 May 2023 | 1105izz2002

There were so many highs and so many lows about this stay. The hotel itself is stunning and has so much offer in terms of food, activities etc. The room size was really impressive, beach was lovely the setting is 10/10 However, throughout the whole stay we as guests well made to feel like an inconvenience to the staff. Anything that we asked for/needed was treated as if we were asking for a pot of gold. This is a real shame as it massively brought down our stay here and sadly a massive negative. The staff seemed tired and miserable. Room service would shout be rude and hang up on the phone. The reception would say one thing and the rest of the hotel would be saying something completely different. Food was meh. Not many options/variation on the menus for us the best was the Italian restaurant.

Wonderful first experience at Heritage Awali

Very nice resort. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Around the hotel we noticed attention to detail, the place is special. The lush gardens give a nice sensation at night. Very pleased with the 'excellent quality service.

Lovely short stay

30 May 2023 | jeremymF7549XL

Had a great short stay visiting family at Awali. The arrival was lovely as usual and we loved our room looking over the pool and ocean behind it. We had a good time at the bar and a lovely meal catching up. Will definitely be back again soon.

Perfect Week-end !

30 May 2023 | jeanlucw847

I spent the last week-end of May with my Kenyan friend Antony MWANGI at the Swahili named resort of Bel Ombre... It was an obvious choice for him, since the resort oozes African elegance and sophistication. For me the stay was booked because this southern Domaine offers a great golfing experience. Food was impeccable, staff are as nice as it gets in Mauritius, and to top it all, this Mother's Day week-end was ended with a nite to remember and a great concert by The Clarisse Sisters. WE WILL BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Love it to bits. The South of the island is just so wild and unspoilt....

Unforgettable stay

30 May 2023 | Climber53746039454

Our short stay was delightful. The staff were attentive to details and welcoming. We really enjoyed the buffet evening at Savanah restaurant. We were so spoilt for choice with the different dishes on display. We will definitely recommend the Héritage Awali to our friends.

Best Service and Resort!

31 May 2023 | gsI497KB

We had a fantastic stay at heritage Awali! Came for our birthdays and the resort and staff did not dissapoint. The highlight for us was the amazing service we received from our bartenders and managers. Specifically Anish, Nishan, Kolly, Desire and all the rest who I may not remember the names of! Cannot wait to come back and bring more friends and family to enjoy the resort and all it offers! Amazing cocktails and food at all the restaurants and bars.

review of Heritage Awali Golf & spa Resort

01 Jun 2023 | antonites

We went to Heritage Awali Golf & spa resort for our honeymoon and could not have asked for anything more the staff are nothing less than amazing and service was more than 5 star. We were on the all inclusive package and we did not go short on anything. the food was great with a massive selection and the hotel accommodated us in every way.

Good but not great

01 Jun 2023 | annekevdmerwe1

Here I am writing a review about Heritage Awali for a second time (my previous review was in May 2022) when I said that I would not go back… After some consideration and after reading reviews, we decided to go there again. We have just returned home and I have really mixed feelings. This resort has all that one needs BUT it is a roller coaster ride of good food / bad food, good service / bad service, friendly staff / rude staff. I am going to try and give the positives and the negatives of this resort Positives: • The resort is beautiful • The rooms are lovely • The food is great – SOMETIMES, this is also a negative • The staff are great – SOMETIMES, this is also a negative • You have options for restaurants – but there is also a negative • The kids pool at the beach is beautiful and build in a great way for small children • If you take the all-inclusive package there is plenty to eat and drink – also has a negative Negatives: • The food is great one day and bad the next, I don’t really get this. If you order the same meal twice during your stay, you can be sure it is not the same meal • I would say 20% of the staff is well trained and very friendly and helpful the other 80% it looks like they just got a job for the day or week and have no clue what they are doing, some really does not even communicate in English, and repeats the same English sentence that has nothing to do with what you asked • The different options on restaurants makes this a good resort to go to but you have to book in advance and even then, you can’t aways get a table. You have to book everything on the day of arrival to at least get a space once at every restaurant – which is difficult if you don’t know what you will like. Also, in 2022 we had to book for lunch, I specifically asked this year to book for lunch but was told there is no need. Twice we could not get a table at Infinity restaurant and was told we had to wait 45min, how do you wait 45min with a 3year old and a 1-year-old over lunch? Communication within the restaurants about the All-Inclusive package is also vague and a lot of times you have to guess. There are no clear instructions. • The Pool Service for drinks is absolutely chaos and almost non existing. The servers don’t make it past the first few chairs and never gets to the end of the pool where the families with small children are most of the time. The one day I waited 1h45m and then went to the bar myself – which was good because only then on day 5 did I get to see a menu with drinks, because it seems like if you are not big on alcohol, they just mix you anything and doesn’t pay much attention to you – which is weird because they make more money out of you because they don’t have to give you alcohol on the all-inclusive package • There are extra themed nights and events but even if you are on the All-Inclusive package you have to pay a supplement (which you know beforehand – but you don’t know how much until you get at the resort) the difference in price between the all-inclusive supplement and if you just show up and have to pay is so small it does not make sense. • Food and drink prices are INSANE if you are not on all inclusive package, maybe tourists from Europe and America can afford this as it is similar to prices in their home country BUT this is not Europe and America this is Mauritius and if you go outside the resort to buy something you will find that everything at the resorts is highly overpriced – and I mean ridiculously overpriced We really hoped that this time our stay would be different as we would like to go back to the same resort every year. We requested before arrival (twice) the same room as the previous year, we did not get the room and frankly also not a good enough explanation (the manager did have a word with me a day later saying something about running on full capacity, but I mean this request was done days before our arrival) Maybe if you go for 3 or 4 days the things would not bother you as much as I only started getting really irritated with the staff and service from day 4 onwards. I also have to say it felt like during the week it was better the service problems started being really bad on the Friday night through to the Sunday. Under staffed and overcrowded everywhere I would like to mention the following staff that did make our stay a lot better: Elodie at Infinity is an absolute jewel to this resort and I hope you know what you have in her. Oliver at the pool tried his best to brighten our day even when we didn’t get any good service at the pool. Javeehna in reception has very good people skills and you were always friendly and playful with the children when we walked through reception. A surprise package was Anthony in Savanna, we only saw him once but he spoke English well (better then most of the rest) and was very friendly and helpful even though you could see that he was only there to clean tables. Thank you to these 4 staff members I will only be giving Heritage Awali a 3 again, sadly

holiday

we had an excellent stay at The Awali - very helpful and enthusiastic staff who are happy to help. gardens and sea view are amazing. we tried lunch at all the different restaurant options - all very good. buffet could do with slightly more choice, but what was on offer was good. special mention to Surmila who cleaned our room- always smiling and a credit to the hotel. only small criticism sun bed towels could do with an upgrade.

An amazing stay at the Heritage Awali golf and spa resort - May-Jun 2023

03 Jun 2023 | Trip810988

From the moment that we stepped out of our airport transfer van, the greeting we got with the traditional playing of the drums by the entrance staff was the start of a holiday experience that we knew was going to be amazing. We intentionally chose the Awali resort compared to the Telfair mainly because the restaurants we believed were more suited to our tastes. Kaavi at the reception checked us in and explained everything that we needed to know before taking us to our room. I had requested a connecting room prior to arriving and this was granted to us upon arrival. The views from our room onto the beach, the swimming area for the kids, the stunning beach walks and the friendly staff from reception to the restaurants..... All were amazing. The food was stunning, with flavourful taste and a fine dining presentation. We requested a late checkout, but instead of charging us, the hotel accomodated our request and instead checked us out at normal time, kept our suitcases, gave us a room to freshen up and allowed us to maintain our all inclusive access to the facilities until the evening. Such an amazing place with exceptional hospitality....... If only we could've made our stay longer than it was! I would give this place 100/10!!!! Definitely recommended as the price we paid was definitely more than worth the service we received.

AN ABSOLUTE DREAMY PLACE!

03 Jun 2023 | T7895ZFangelas

Heritage Awali is an absolutely dream! We had the best time ever. Everyone has been amazing and friendly to us, from the reception staff (Melanie and her team) to the cocktail staff (Anish, Nishan and the rest of the team). The food has been fantastic wherever we went for lunch or dinner, as well as breakfast. The room and the service is incredible and everyone is always available to kindly help you. Highly recommended!

Great place

04 Jun 2023 | KevinH440

Hotel, location, staff and, golf course and spa are all excellent. Best service you will find anywhere in the world! We stayed here seven years ago and all facilities were still excellent. The only difference was that the hotel was much more family-oriented this time which is great for families but not if you want a totally relaxing holiday as a couple or without children as the beautiful heated pool gets taken over by very noisy children and famiies and there is much more disturbance with children running about and/or making loud noise in the restaurants and bars in the evenings. The Adult Only pool though (unfortunately not heated!) and the beach are much quieter and relaxing.

Birthday holiday

Lovely location with beautiful views Great food with lots of Variety- Boma night well worth doing. Ginja restaurant fabulous food. Spa facility and treats were great with a great range. Hotel always clean, maid always happy to help. Pool bar staff friendly

Was not as expected

05 Jun 2023 | sabs014

The room was small, bathtub not clean. We were not well advised on all the services and facilities we were offered. Even On all inclusive package, after cheking at 14hr we were not allowed for any snacks or small meal like sandwiches etc, we have to pay for it. Only pancakes were available at that time. But the staffs were nice and helpful. Overall experience was good but not as expected.

Party of 4

05 Jun 2023 | joand33

We visited the Awali as a party of 4, for the 9th time, I asked for certain rooms but didn’t quite get 1 of them, my husband and I were put round the children’s pool, I asked to be moved and we were, the staff couldn’t do enough for us especially Analise and her manager, who was very helpful with organising our move and helping to sort our door key out. The food in the Savanna was very good especially the themed nights, the Infinity Blue was very delicious and as always the staff were excellent, we were very disappointed with the service in the Kuzini, the staff seemed very busy but we had to wait nearly an hour for our meal, the Zafarani was also very delicious and I would just like to thank Youishni the manager and Nolwenn who were excellent. We were disappointed to see so many supplements on the menu’s, but the real disappointment was the amount of children running around in the dining room and restaurants unsupervised. As always the rooms were kept very clean infact the hotel and gardens are kept clean and lovely. All the staff made us feel so welcome and we would like to thank Farzinah, Oliver,Varsha, Vanessa, Jocelyn, there are so many that we can’t remember all the names. It was very nice to meet Jean-Peirre and see his plans for The Awali.

Amazing Hotel!

We spent a weekend here and it's one of the best 5-star hotels in Mauritius. The location was gorgeous and the beachfront room we stayed in was tastefully decorated and large. The food was excellent, as to the service. Would highly recommend.

A great experience

Our overall experience was very fulfilling. The Indian restaurant- Zafarani- was particularly exceptional. The head chef was extremely accommodating and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend visits to Zafarani.

Amazing food and experience!

One of the best trips we’ve ever made! This was our honeymoon. Perfect service, very clean hotel, loads of activities offered and superb restaurants. Especially the Indian Restaurant Zafarani with chef Harjit Singh and his amazing team surprised us with the most delicious Indian food we could imagine! Thank you for the great time. We’ll definitely come back!

AMAZING!!! We were completely mesmerized by the welcome and care. Mrs Farzinah made us feel at home. She was such a wonderful host, giving us the best service possible. The guys at the main bar were outstanding. The staff are really 5 stars. Room was really nice and food was incredibly tasty. There was a lady doing Pasta at the Savanah restaurant. Her beautiful smile and tasty pasta was awesome. Overall we’ve had an amazing time here.

Two weeks of paradise

10 Jun 2023 | GrandTour60150700993

Stayed in the villa here for 2 weeks at the start of May. The 2 main bedrooms are very spacious. The beds are the largest I've ever slept in. There is also a walk in shower and a jacuzzi in both, along with 2 sinks, a walk in wardrobe and a safe. The villa also has a kitchen and sitting room. There are seating areas outside both bedrooms and the sitting room, a dining table, gazebo and private pool. There was also a butler called Alex who really adds the fifth star to the whole experience. Nothing is too much trouble for this man and every request is greeted with a smile. I cannot speak too highly of Alex, he made our wedding perfect by knowing who we were and what we would like. We found the wedding coordinator fairly useless but Alex saved the day with his effort and contacts to make it truly memorable. He arranged restaurants and excursions, kept the minibar (actually a full size fridge freezer) stocked with what we preferred, tidied up after us, arranged a barbecue at the villa for a birthday(chef included), all the while appearing happy and content in his work. He's a gem. Would definitely recommend staying here & hope to go back again one day.

We will be back there!

10 Jun 2023 | krzysztofwU9230NO

Great hotel especially for families or people looking for peace and comfort! We spent 7 wonderful days there, experiencing great hospitality, staying in comfortable rooms with super beautiful views of the tropical garden and ocean. All kinds of activities are available on site: snorkeling, fishing, swimming with dolphins, kite surfing, cycling, golf and much more. Special thanks to the manager Vishal who made us feel like old good friends. At the bar you can meet Kashav, who was always ready for service, help or simple friendly company with great kindness.

Wouldn't return.

So this is my honest review. I've travelled to many countries and have had better experiences than when we stayed here. I came with my husband an 2 children. We booked and paid for a beachfront ground floor room directly on the website which also gave an option for early check in or late check out, we opted for late checkout but did not get this even when asked so do not believe that offer. However we did get the complimentary massages and they were good. We booked the restaurants and massages weeks before we arrived. One of the worst things was the delay in getting your food in Kuzini and Infinity Blue. They messed up my order in Kuzini once and had me waiting 1 hour for a burger that did not arrive and then they offered free room service to make up for it. I had to call the reception fo the same things many times, they never listened the first time. We stayed in 7204 and it was crawling with mini ants all over the sink and table. It had no bathtub which I wanted only a shower. The view was amazing though. We upgraded and paid for a suite the day after arrival and moved to 7205 which had no ants and had two bedrooms, two walk-in shower, bathtub, two toilets and a large balcony overlooking the beach. We had 2 Tv's but even if they were smart you could not connect your phone which was so disappointing. Between lunch and dinner only pancakes and ice cream is served around 5pm, thats all. I expected better snacks and food available at all times from a 5 star hotel. No food available after dinner or between breakfast and lunch. No music anywhere so it was abit boring, it wasn't a vibe. Beach oy hardly travels to coco shack to take drink orders. Coconut water is always finished when we go to coco shack. Some bits of the beach are gravel and stones and some bits are sand. There is a kids pool but it's abit cold and we went end of May it was about 26 degrees weather. My little ones did make friends and speaking to another parent they felt the same about some of the issues mentioned.I'm not a picky person but I wasn't very happy with my stay here. I would suggest sugar beach hotel if you didn't like all the things I mentioned. However BOMA night was very good, it was worth it. The staff are very friendly though. Would I return? No I woudn't.

We will be happy to come back here with my family and friends perhaps even next year.

Beautifully situated hotel integrated into the amazing nature of the southern coast of the island. Many amenities, very helpful and nice staff, delicious cuisine and drinks. the possibility of spending free time in various ways: golf course, spa&wellness zone, tennis and table tennis, bicycles, snorkeling and many others. The hotel is ideal for couples and families with children, I highly recommend this place.

June trip to Heritage Awali

12 Jun 2023 | Sunny_traveller_7

Just spent a fantastic week in Mauritius on a much anticipated golf holiday. The Awali is a very well run resort with super helpful and friendly staff, who cannot do enough for you. The choice of restaurants (some included in the holiday and some not) are excellent an food delicious, especially the palm heart dishes. The buffet restaurant was a little disappointing as the food quality did not match up to the other restaurants, but fine for breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed the golf with amazing views and a beautiful course, which was not too over-challenging (being a higher handicap player). Again all the staff were so helpful. I took my own clubs, but recommend you check the quality of the hire clubs, as they seemed not the latest models. The Seven Colours Spa however I cannot recommend highly enough. I has massages, facial and reflexology with Nishta who was absolutely wonderful. By the end of the stay I reckon she knew my body better than me in terms of getting me to completely relax! Do not miss out on the treatments - it was one of the best experiences of the holiday.

The people make the difference

12 Jun 2023 | personaltraining2023

We stayed at Awali for 10 days and then we continued to a second hotel in the north. The overall impression is great. The garden, beach, buildings and rooms are really nice. Different restaurants in the hotel help everyone to get his favorite foods. Our best experience was at the "Infinity blue" restaurant. And that was not only because of the great food but because of the outstanding service we experienced. Namely Vanessa and Rohid were very attentive, helpful and always had a smile in their faces even in the moments of high workload. They gave us always very good recommendations. It are really the people that make the difference. Another example is the beach team Olivier, Hensley and Vayraz. Don't know how many kilometers they walk the whole day to deliver drinks and food to the guests at the beach. We really enjoyed that. Our room maid Vimlah kept the room always in good condition. We also had a conversation with the current director Jerome and his assistant Jean-Paul. They are really interested in getting feedback to improve the experience of the guests. One of our recommendations is to better separate the many families with little kids from couples that are traveling with other priorities (pool, rooms, restaurants). But we understood, that they are thinking about this already. We can really recommend the hotel and it is also a good starting point for many excursions in the south of the beautiful island. Greetings to the whole team from Petra & Dirk

Stunning hotel with some amazing team.

12 Jun 2023 | Keeleyh1902

The hotel was lovely, room very spacious. We booked most of the restaurants before we arrived but it was very easy to change them. Our favourite by far was Zafarani, excellent food and service. The chef came out to say hello and to check that everything was good. He made it extra spicy at our request for our future bookings, 5*s for chef Harjit Singh you truly made our experience amazing along with Udish and your team. Infinity Blue - Food very good for lunch and dinner, service a bit hit and miss. The same could be said for Kuzini's. Only tried Savana a couple of times as there were far too many children running around and even throwing food in the lovely pools surrounding the restaurant. The Beach club lunch was nice, but our favourite was definitely the Club house, again great food with excellent service and amazing views. The Zenzi bar was our favourite place for a drink, the quality of drinks for the money you pay needs to be better, originally we were booked for 2020 and the selection was so much better than now. The best part were the team there, they could not do enough. They remember what you like to drink and when. To name a few - Nishan, Ekaksh, Koly, all the team there were attentive again 5*. Towards the end of our stay there were just to many children for us, there seemed very little control as they were running around knocking into people and making so much noise you could not hear the live singers, which was such a shame. Coco Shack is definitely worth a visit. The beach was nice and the beach service was a very nice touch - Samosa! The sea was disappointing as there is a strong under current which made it difficult to enjoy. Beach shoes a must. My husband played 5 rounds of golf whilst we were there which he really enjoyed. The course was very beautiful. All in all a lovely place but value for money not so good. Next years prices are even more expensive and for the price I would expect more. It really is a beautiful place and worth a visit. The team really do make it a very special place in my opinion. I would loved to have rated it 5*s, but some small improvements in quality of drinks, Rum and wine especially needed and the amount of children running around unsupervised spoilt things.

Fantastic Holiday and hotel

Just a fab visit. hotel staff are always friendly and helpful. Exceptional value for money. Special mention to the bar staff who sorted out hot toddy (Kolly esp) when i was a bit under the weather. Dolphin swim was a bucket list moment and would recommend the buggy trip in the reserve. Golf was a revelation…. Top notch course

Beautiful!

Honest review of family holiday

15 Jun 2023 | foodtravelpr

What a wonderful memorable holiday we had. Before this trip, I read some of the more negative reviews…please go experience for yourself! Everything was really fantastic from start to finish. The staff are exemplary and cannot do enough for you. Any issues, they try the best to sort out for you and they go out their way to do things for you to make your stay comfortable like going off menu etc. some ppl moan about the food but I found it to be superb. We ate at all the restaurants including: C beach club, buffet, infinity blue, Kuzini, Amafroofy, Zafarani, golf club, Ginja. They were all fantastic. The buffet was more than enough with plenty of variety. Sometimes there was a little wait for food but not often. The service and food in Kuzini was great. It’s worth paying the extra snd giving Ginja a try too…we went to celebrate a special occasion and it was perfect for that. We would have also been very happy to have eaten in the buffet every night too. What I liked about the restaurants was that they all had a different vibe about them. I’m not sure why ppl moan about the snack between lunch and dinner…how much do you want to eat really? If anything 3 meals a day is plenty! We had no problem booking in with restaurants, but book on the day you arrive. If you’re unsure what’s included, just ask! It was pretty clear to us. The pool service was also great - ordered drinks and they came in good time, no problem there. You can also go to the bar if you want your drinks immediately. It was nice to have an adults and family pool. The main bar was great also, loved our pre drinks before dinner. I don’t drink alcohol but there was plenty of choice and they literally make whatever you want, off menu! We were a family of 3 and the kids club was the best we’ve experienced to date; it was cultural, interactive and the staff were amazing. Honestly the best kids club! You have given my daughter memories she will keep forever. Hubby golfs and he said one of the best courses he’s played on and top notch service. They take your bags, tag them and you can leave them at the golf course if you are planning on playing again (saves you from bringing them back and forth). He said British golf clubs could learn a thing or two from this one. The spa was beautiful and staff were very knowledgeable and experienced. Loved our complimentary massage. We played tennis and lots of table tennis too. We also did the complimentary kayaking, pedaloing, paddle boarding, glass bottom boat and snorkelling trips. All great fun. You can use the facilities at Le Telfair too like yoga, their spa, their gym etc no problem, just ask and if there’s space it’s not an issue. The rooms are slightly dated but we were hardly in them so didn’t bother us. Sometimes you have children (mostly British) running wild in the bar after and before dinner where parents werent parenting. Would be good to have staff intervene to ask them to run outside/in the corner and to keep the screaming down. What I loved; The whole hotel and grounds are beautiful. The staff - all of them from check in to restaurants, bar, pool, housekeeping, spa, housekeeping, gardeners were really what made it extra special…they remember your names, your drink preferences etc. one week is definitely not enough, I’d recommend a minimum of 10 days to experience it all. We really loved our holiday. We will happily go back to Mauritius and to Awali. Thank you!

Best holiday ever

17 Jun 2023 | LiezlBarnard

My husband and I just returned home after a week at the Awali and our biggest issue was that our holiday was only a week and not two. We stayed in room 5104 and our room was excellent. We spent a lot of time of using the incredible spa amenities. The hospitality we experienced at this resort was unrivalled. No request was too big and the team endeavours to go above and beyond with every interaction. The food at the Zafarani and Infinity Blue is exceptional. I cannot recommend the Awali enough. We will definitely be back.

Such a wonderful friendly and relaxing place to be

We have just come back from staying at Heritage Awali and we had a fantastic time and met many new friends and were treated so well by the staff who take extreme pride in what they do. They are always smiling whilst delivering outstanding service and create such a relaxed atmosphere. Would 100% go back

Unforgetable vacation

Perfect hotel for families. Hospitality, rooms, beach, restaurants, bars - all was on the highest level. Everyday evening/night events, from live music to different show. Always something interesting, something to do. Hotel worth to spent a super vacation.

Bad Experience

19 Jun 2023 | accfinlabltd

We stayed at the hotel on the occasion of my birthday in May 2023. Some of the bad experiences at the hotel: -Waited for one hour upon arrival prior getting room -The front office staff failed to communicate our request for a birthday cake to the restaurant and eventually this turned out to be a disappointment. -We did not received an umbrella and since it was raining heavily.. we went to request for an umbrella at the reception.. However, they just responded and said ' We don't have' .. just imagine carrying a baby of 1 year old in the rain and on a slippery floor to go our room and the reception pax just did not show any pity ..that's regrettable. - They are just bunch of low experience people who needs to be groomed and trained well to deliver a good customer service. We would like to thank Mr. Dylan (Restaurant) who did his utmost best to save my birthday event by getting us a cake though we did not want since we miss the moment after our dinner. His welcoming, his service and gesture was highly appreciated . He is the best man at Heritage Awali and deserved the highest reward that it can be.

Special days on the beach with Dodo

19 Jun 2023 | Kamila2015

An average hotel, bit used inside, but staff very friendly and kind to kids. The top management very polite and experienced, but sometimes the tasks didn´t go thrue to the staff. For the ordinary tasks to many people, so sometimes you are asked for one thing from 3 persons. But this is everywhere on Mauritius. Vhimla maid was very kind and careful. What I have to mention special thanks to our friend Dodo, guy from the beach, has many stories about the ocean, fish, mussels, history of Mauritius sharks for kids but interresting for adults as well. Our son was with Dodo every day even after check out when we changed our hotel, and he pationly told stories and made his days very special for many days. We have many special memorable bracelets from him, he made for us for special whish and requirement. We will miss him for a long time! Thank you. Kamila

Some facts I wish I knew before I booked and paid for this package

22 Jun 2023 | JuanViss

1. We bought the All Inclusive option, even though it was clearly stated on their checked in documents (see photo attached) some services were not delivered and when questioned it was said that actually they are just running a promotion and that only a select few items were included. All Inclusive at this resort does NOT mean that, with a lot of items on the menus requiring an extra supplement. 2. After arranging a special dinner to apologize for stuffing up in the first place we were handed an iPad for a review with the lady waiting there for us to finish. After questioning maintenance noise and not getting the promised service, we were referred to that review where we had a good experience. Rather wait till you get home and rate the whole experience if you still feel that way. 3. The resort adjacent, La Telfair guests have free reign to use all the facilities and pools at Awali resort however you are not allowed to use their pool and will be asked to leave. If the loungers are all occupied, you will have no alternative and will have to wait for one to open if and when. 4. On all the patios, lounges at the pool and beach as well as the restaurant on the beach, smoking was allowed. We definitely did not get the All Inclusive, 5* experience we paid for, I would recommend finding an alternative resort.

You have to go!

Superb resort with super friendly staff, great food + drinks - a very memorable experience. From the moment we arrived we felt we were in paradise. Presentation of the hotel is amazing and the view when you enter reception breathtaking. Could not recommend highly enough.

An amazing holiday that we didn't want to end

24 Jun 2023 | P5507KTalexs

I recently went on holiday to Heritage Awali with my family and we had an amazing time to the point where we really didn't want to come home. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the were always checking if we needed anything and had plenty of helpful suggestions on things to do out of the resort. The resort looks amazing, the building are incredibly impressive and look fantastic, the whole resort is so welcoming everything is very well maintained including the beaches but if you do note something the staff are only to happy to look into it. The rooms are large and comfortable, the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that we had a minor issue with the bathroom door but this was quickly fixed (the staff were also very keen to check we were happy with the repair), the only suggestion I can give is that there could be some English family TV channels but this is only a minor suggestion. The Kids club was fantastic and put us at ease with leaving our daughter in their care and their facilities looked a lot of fun for the kids and my daughter had a great time. The food was brilliant, the restaurant staff were so helpful and friendly and the cocktails were brilliantly made. They were always happy to help and suggest a refreshing new drink when asked. The included activities were a lot of fun and I wish I could have tried more. The Seven Colours Spa was brilliant, the included massage was so relaxing it brought both my partner and I back for another and I was very tempted to go back a number of other times as we both felt amazing afterwards. I wish I could name all the people who made our stay so wonderful but there were just so many it would almost be naming the whole staff. We will definitely be coming back again it, it really did feel like paradise!

Awali Feedback GG

Some of the waiters were not customer friendly. We were on a AI package and were not informed of purchases that were AI excluded. I was also double charged for golf and found the manager and the staff at the front desk incompetent in resolving. I had to settle to check out. Very disappointed.

We had a lovely family holiday at this resort. The food was excellent. The pool areas were lovely. The included water sports were disappointing. The golf course was amazing, the green fees were included which was brilliant and the food & service there was exceptional. We waited a long time for drinks at mealtimes and around the pool. The Spa was very good

First visit to Mauritius for my wife and I..Having travelled the world we found it warm and relaxing. Poor Customer Service prior the arrival

27 Jun 2023 | Explore28879053989

I'm never a great advocate of posting negativity on here, as - a) posts are purely subjective, and b) they are often professional 'moaners' looning for some for of compensation. However, in saying that I have been forced to write as to say that I am underwhelmed by the pre-arrival service standards is a mile understatment ! We are a party of 6 arriving in Novermber of this year, and over the last 3-weeks I have sent 5 emails to both the Golf Centre and to the Hotel itself to pre-book Tee times, and as yet I've not had one single reply! If this is representative of the expected Service Levels, I am questioning as to whether we should cancel out booking and look for an alternative Hotel !

Great experience at Heritage Awali. We spend few days and celebrate my son Birthday with 40 guests. Lovely sea view room which was Clean and bang on the beach. Great service by Chef Francis and Chef Deo and a very good sense of organization by F&B Manager Jean Pierre. Food was great and all my guests had a great time. We really enjoyed the Hotel and its dedicated people.Hats off Awali

Fun, food & family with allergy

02 Jul 2023 | maximet880

We stayed at Awali for a week with a 4 & 7 years old children from June 27th. The whole trip was perfect. It's "winter" in Mauritius, but the weather was good. Not too hot, not cold at all. A little rain which don't last more than 15min, otherwise sunny. We went swimming at 8am and it was fine! Our room were 30sec to the beach, right next to the pool. The sofa bed is as large as a king bed so the kids were confortable. My son has a severe peanut allergy. The staff and the chef were always very careful and even prepared a separate meal for him every time. We felt safe and had lots of fun. Also we love beach volley, and the staff at the sport center played with us. We had lots of choices at Savana restaurant (pizza, sea food, mauritian &indian food). Our coup de coeur was the grilled squid on our first diner there. Infinity blue has tasty food also for lunch. First time in Mauritius, definitely a must go for a family vacation.

Heritage Awali Gold & Spa is the best hotel to recommend to family and friends.

02 Jul 2023 | 559veenad

Upon arrival we had a warm welcome. A smiling lady guided us with the registration, and this was done very efficiently. We had a very good view of the sea from our rooms. The rooms were very tidy and perfectly done. The food was excellent. The event - birthday party was well organized. We enjoyed every moment.

Beautiful resort, excellent service, lovely food

02 Jul 2023 | Sasas12345

Went to the resort as a couple along with our baby. Special mention to chef harjit singh from zafrani restaurant - he went out of his way to make us very tasty food on most of the days. He was always so friendly and ensured we were thoroughly well looked after, always coming to check that we were happy with the food. I would definitely recommend eating at the a la carte restaurant within which he works. The prawn samosas, butter chicken and kebabs are brilliant! Also want to mention a few others. Rohit was great at infinity blue- catered to our needs and knowledgeable sommelier. Giovanita thank you for your great service too. From the leisure centre, Jeff was good fun to hang out with. The resort offer plenty of activities and we enjoyed doing archery and aquarobics with Jeff and the team! A few things that could be improved: -More choice at savanna buffet restaurant -Shame that tuna kept running out -Pools could be warmer -More variety of ice cream flavours would be nice -Better communication between front staff and other staff members at the hotel Overall enjoyed our stay. Beautiful hotel with plenty of facilities , restaurant choices and friendly staff.

Mauri times! Enjoyment and fun!

We had our wedding here last week and everything went as perfect as we could ask for. A big thanks to our wedding planner, Divek, who took care of everything for us! All the staff were very helpful and attentive, food was good and plenty of options to cater for all. We also played a few round of golf during our stay and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves every time. We particularly enjoyed our lunch at the C Beach Club, great food and great view and even better service! Simply a perfect experience! Already looking forward to returning there one day!

Beautiful relaxing holiday in a beautiful destination

03 Jul 2023 | L3859EOjuliem

Very relaxing stay to celebrate a big birthday and 25th wedding anniversary. The service was excellent by all staff but special mention to Krishna in the beach bar who was funny and made everyone feel special. We were welcomed by Melanie who was very helpful and continued to be so throughout our holiday. Hotel is spotlessly clean and well presented. Our room attendant Ashna always did a good job and left us little notes to brighten up our day. My only criticism is that the restaurants did not offer many vegetarian options and felt there was too much fish on the menus. A wonderful relaxing holiday and definitely will be back

Lovely Lovely Stay

03 Jul 2023 | gurdeepkaur260

We stayed here for 9 days and had the best stay from beginning to end. Staff are very polite and attentive. It was for my husbands 40th and they even provided decor for the room. The resort is gorgeous and has lots to do from beach games, fitness centre, water games, 2 pools and beach. Great area for walking - you can visit the grounds of the other hotel Le Telfair. Restaurants are great - A La carte and Buffet. You need to book in advance for a La carte restaurants. The Zafarani restaurant was our favourite - we really enjoyed the Indian cuisine - the chef Harjit made us separate veg dishes on our second visit. Very good and high quality service. The Spa is a must visit - a nice relaxing space providing great massages. We visited the North on a day trip which is approx 1hour 30mins - we visited the botanical gardens, fort and Port Louis. Overall, we had a great time and would visit here again.

Simply the best resort in the Indian Ocean

03 Jul 2023 | dlenormand93

How do I start... From the staff, to that beautiful African decoration, this resort is truly something else. I was welcomed by a charming front office team and also by a truly caring general manager and front office manager. Jerome and Navish are wonderful. They really make you feel at home. The gastronomy is mind-blowing. I experienced LE BOMA, which is something I encourage guests to try. Chateau de Bel Ombre is also something you can't miss. From my perspective, the most beautiful restaurant in the world. Thank you everyone for an unforgettable stay. I will definitely come back soon!

What a Disappointment!

03 Jul 2023 | Bronwen123

We have travelled extensively over the years and I have to say that this hotel came nowhere near the hype it is given, both on their website and the reviews on Tripadvisor. We felt very disappointed with the experience, especially as we stayed here for three weeks. Before I list the negatives, I will say that the one good thing about this hotel was the staff. Everyone of them was friendly, attentive and very helpful. I would like to mention Jennifer here. She works in the main restaurant and was absolutely excellent. Now the negatives: 1. The room was very dated and badly in need of a refurbishment. We raised this with the hotel staff and were told that they are gradually updating their rooms but this didn't help us when paying a considerable amount of money for the three weeks we were there. 2. The room was consistently damp - our clothes were always damp and so was the bedding, despite the temperature being around 25 degrees Centigrade. 3. There were huge amounts of young children, toddlers and babies which always seemed to be shouting and screaming and the parents seemed to have no idea, or care, that their children were being a nuisance to other guests. Not ideal if you want a relaxing holiday! This hotel seemed to have more families with unruly, young children than we have ever experienced before, anywhere! 4. The included extra activities were a joke. The glass bottom boat was only a 20 minute trip and the driver of the boat seemed disinterested and just wanted to get us back to shore as quickly as possible. He didn't even stop so that we could look properly at the beautiful creatures that were flashing under the boat. The fishing trip was just a very small boat which you have to stand up in with a bamboo fishing rod. We didn't see anyone catch anything and, again, it only lasted maximum 30 minutes. 5. There is a very strong current across the beach which isn't so good if you like swimming in the sea. It could be dangerous if you are not a strong swimmer. 6. The food is pretty awful with very little choice. The curries in the Indian Restaurant were bland and the poppadums were stale, not crispy -- obviously not served fresh! The food in the Italian Restaurant was not only boring for both lunch and dinner, but what we did have was tasteless. The Ragout of Beef was as tough as leather and just served on a bed of plain tagliatelle - inedible! Lunch in the Italian was fine if you are a carb junkie but not much else. Lunch in the Affinity Restaurant was mostly salads (and boring at that - just lettuce, tomato - with either chicken, tuna or octopus. There were a few other options but when you are staying for three weeks it became extremely monotonous. The only redeeming thing was the breakfasts - plenty of choice and I couldn't fault it. It would be a good idea to get some chefs with a bit more imagination and talent. Also change the menus on a rotation basis for those people staying for more than a week. Would we return here - DEFINITELY NOT!!!

Staff are absolutely amazing!

It's our second time to Heritage Awali, and we were not dissapointed. Everything about it was superb, but in particular the staff. Big shout out to Keshav & Desire in the bar, Steeve & Stefane in the sports centre, Nitisha, Jennifer & Roshini, and also Ravish who were superb! Also, the care and attention of Kalaivanee was absolutely amazing, she was brilliant, and I hope management in this resort get this message. My husband and I would go back in a heartbeat. If you are thinking of booking, then don't hesitate, it is great! Claire & James East (UK)

Fun vacation with unpleasant ending

08 Jul 2023 | Travel65158758301

We enjoyed our stay at Awali very much. On the last evening we had a couple of drinks at the bar. We stayed after the bar closed. We helped ourselves to 2 bottles of champagne which was included in our all inclusive package. The night manager said that we would be charged for this. We argued that we didn’t bother anybody, and that we did not drink anything which was not included in our package. We were charged MUR6000 for 2 local bottles of champagne which is ridiculous! Other than that, the holiday was fantastic.

A real treat and a fabulous experience

08 Jul 2023 | MontreuxCanary

A great value resort on the beautiful South coast of Mauritius. The food is excellent, people are very friendly (and really appreciate if you try to speak some French). The coastline is divine and there are so many amazing attractions in the area. Dolphin watching / swimming is a must, also some great mountain hikes with fabulous views. Nick (Nicola) in the sports centre was an amazing guy. So friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable. He played myself and my son at tennis and arranged for colleagues to make up doubles. Great fun! Nick even arranged his day off so that he could show us where to hike in the mountains. Steve, the Awali manager is also a really nice guy and extremely customer focussed to ensure everything is just right for guests. The Indian restaurant serves amazing food. The chef Harjot Singh who comes from India is so passionate about his cooking and comes to every table to check his guests are happy. We asked how he makes the delicious tandoori chicken and he invited us to come in one lunchtime so he could show us. What an experience! Too many nice people to mention. Damien, Stephane, all the bar staff and the people working in the restaurants. I’d happily return!

Hertiage Awali - paradise on earth!

If you are looking for a family holiday you will never forget, then you can't go wrong with Hertiage Awali. The staff are incredible, the food is amazing and the entertainment for the kids is top notch (kids club was such a hit). If you can, spend the extra cash and book out the villa. It has its own pool which is heated and is so luxurious and spacious. We have been to Mauritius, four times amd stayed in numerous resorts, and Hertiage Awali is definitely one of our favourites. The weather was great and snorkeling was out of this world. I really can't imagine why you would want to stay anywhere else. Paradise on earth!

Brilliant week at the Awali ☺️

Wow………the place really is amazing. We are just home from a relaxing week at the Awali……….my wife and I were trying to come up with some negatives (weirdly) the only thing we could think of was beer mats in the bar in the evening!!!! Everything in the Awali was a very high standard………we can’t wait for next year to get back ☺️ Have to say a big shout out the the infinity blue pool bar attendants 🍹👌

We recently spent a family holiday at Heritage Awali. What an awesome time was had by all! Absolutely stunning resort! Excellent service from every staff member at the resort. We were make to feel at home and always met with a pleasant attitude and smile. Resort was clean and tidy, meals were excellent and drinks always served promptly. There were adequate activities for all to enjoy. Great water sport activities. Can’t wait to visit again . Highly recommend to all. Absolute quality. Thank you Jerome!(General Manager) Keep up the good work. Thank you to all for making it a holiday we will remember.

Infinity Blue bar

12 Jul 2023 | F4515FFlouised

Anish, Krishna and Nickhil were absolutely fab and the Infinity blue bar, serving my family and I the best cocktails ever. Krishna made especially good gin and tonics with cucumber and pomegranate really focussing on the details, also making my mum and I lush martinis which made our evening. Nickhil was so friendly and cleared all our drinks when we ordered more! Anish was always around making sure everyone was ok and applying himself to all roles even setting up the crepes by the main pool. Highly recommend visiting the infinity blue bar after the restaurant to get personal cocktails made to your liking and to have a good laugh with the staff. The staff always say hello and are always there to have a chat. We will be returning most nights as this is our favourite bar especially in the evenings!

Exceptional

Cannot rate Heritage Awali Hotel enough. My husband and I went on our honeymoon in July for 7 nights and it was the best trip we’ve been on. 5* + service throughout! We went for the all inclusive package which was great value for money Vishal, our hotel manager, looked after us exceptionally throughout our stay. He helped organise a candle light dinner with our wedding song playing. It was beautiful! He also organised a cake and when we had issues with our room, he organised an alternative without any issues and when our flight was delayed, he sorted our late check out despite there being a wedding at the hotel and a busy hotel! He was warm, and welcoming throughout our whole stay and on hand for anything we needed. Spa - included in our package was a 45 min back and shoulder treatment which we upgraded to a full body by paying a supplement charge. We met Stephanie from the spa who had the warmest energy and helped us organise our second treatments. Definitely ask for her! Our second treatment was the source of life 90 Min massage, I had Varsha as my massage therapist, who was incredible. Food- there are quite a few restaurants to choose from, ranging from A La Carte to buffet. We found the a la carte much better. We ate at the Indian restaurant for 2 of the nights we were there- ask for Harjit Singh (chef), we wanted to try some different food which wasn’t on the menu and it was incredible. He won’t disappoint!! There are 2 restaurants open for lunch- a beach club which has a DJ and a good vibe throughout and the Heritage golf club which was a shuttle bus away- both great. There’s also a bar area which has light snacks in the late afternoon. Rooms - The rooms were great, spacious and we had a balcony area to sit in in both which was great to unwind. All the staff members are warm, Ashna from house keeping made our stay very comfortable. Activities - there were lots of activities included in our all inclusive package, including kayaking (definitely recommend), bike tours, yoga, tennis, glass boat tour which was okay, and snorkelling. Cristabelle from the activity centre was great, she took us on the bike tour round the domain for about 8km and had all the local knowledge while also being a Ray of sunshine throughout our stay. The snorkelling wasn’t something that we would recommend for beginners. You’re better off trying if it’s your first time on the beach, or in the swimming pool. We didn’t get much guidance and the water was very strong we ended up getting tangled in coral and it wasn’t as enjoyable as doing it ourselves in the shallower water. Now we’ve mastered it a bit more we’d probably enjoy it some more. The instructor was good in helping us finding a snorkel which fit but we found it quite challenging after. Would 1000% recommend the all inclusive package

Fabulous, will be back

Just back from 10 days at Heritage Awali. Loved every minute. The accommodation is fantastic. We were a family of 5 (3 teenagers aged 18, 16, 13). We had requested interconnecting rooms which was ideal. The rooms are extremely spacious and very well kept and clean. Very large bathrooms and changing area. Loads of activities. We did some archery (lovely insturctor), snorkeling, scuba diving, billiards, table tennis, paddle boarding, golf (normal and the footgolf which was fun), used the gym and spa, dolphin swimming trip. There is more than enough to do for teenagers. I also did short runs through the local town and felt very safe. The whole resort is very spacious so doesn't feel crowded at all even when plenty people there. Restaurants all very good. We loved Ginja at Telfair the best but all very nice. Huge breakfast selection at main restaurant with a lovely juice bar. Spent some time at C Beach which we loved and it has a lovely vibe. Loved sunset cocktails at Infinity Blue on the soft seats on the beach. We did standard all inclusive which was excellent. Resort is very friendly, warm and appealing. Would go back in a second and will very likely return. Winter in Mauritius but we were lucky with about 23 to 26 daily which we found ideal. A fantastic family holiday.

Great food and swanky place

16 Jul 2023 | anandt619

The place was great, but the food and hospitality were stellar. Particularly Zafarani restaurant at this place had some of the best food. Mr. Harjit Singh, especially, as the chef here, almost created half a new menu for us since we are vegetarians. He went out of the way to create new dishes and also made them inch-perfectly “home like”. Thanks to him for making the evening, on my wife’s birthday, extremely special.

Wonderful, so relaxing and will be going again!

Place is great location is great, food is excellent and staff too. Special shout out too: Jennifer who waited on us in the savana restaurant and she would remember our drink order and fav seating spot which was so great! Chef Francis went out of his way to cook me shrimps as he saw me waiting for them at the buffet, I went back to my seat to come later and to my suprised a few minutes later he came to my table with a plate of freshly cooked shrimps! Chef Harpreet Singh in zafrani would come out and reccomened dishes for us and also made us special chai which was wonderful. Nicola at archery was fantastic, me and my wife went for a session and had to come back for more, he makes the activity lively and throws in some competition too which everyone enjoyed! Super friendly guy too. I can't remember our cleaning ladies name i think it was ratnaa, we stayed in 3206 room but she would clean our room every day and greet us in the morning and ask how we were doing she knew we liked out blinds closed and would make sure to do just that, just rhe small touches made alot of difference. As we were honeymooners we had a candlelight dinner at the infinity blue resturaunt and both Farzina and Clara were wonderful both with the romantic set up and the organisation. I do not remember the skipper but the glass bottom boat ride was also a lovely activity! Safe to say the staff and the resort made a big impact on us and we both look forward to returning in the future.

We’d go back in a heartbeat!

This hotel is really gorgeous, set in a beautiful part of Mauritius, with everything you could wish for at your fingertips. We stayed in a beach front deluxe room, and the views were magical. There’s a lot of coral on the beach, so footwear is required to get in the sea. What made our trip so very special were some stand out members of staff who just couldn’t do enough for us, they really did seem to care. Special shout out to Kolly and Nishan who serve in the bar, Ravish the pool boy, Kalaivanee in reception, Yudish in the Indian restaurant, Tabbatta at the golf club and Ashna our room maid. The management here are also brilliant, they made a point of talking to us and put on some extra special treats for us to enjoy. Thanks to Jean Paul, Jean Pierre, Jocelyn the Italian restaurant manager. We stayed for 3 weeks, it went very quickly and we were not ready to go home. This trip was much needed after my Husband received a Cancer diagnosis in Oct 2022, we put a lot of Hope on this holiday, it didn’t disappoint.

Honeymoon trip

18 Jul 2023 | sofianU8358OE

Came for honeymoon Was very very impressed with the resort, scenery, food and friendliness of staff. Special shout out to: Farina and Clara from infinity blue who made our candlelight dinner so romantic Nic from archery who taught me so well I hit a bullseye Chef, Harjit Singh, who cooked the most wonderful Indian dishes and came out to greet his customers and offer menu suggestions, even offered and made us karak chai which was not on the menu! Ratna from housekeeping took special care to clean our room and kept the blinds just how we liked them each morning, she would also stop to chat to us and see if we were enjoying ourselves and if she could do anything better for us. All these amazing people made our honeymoon even better and have made me want to come back in the future!!!

Value for money stay at Awali resort

Special thanks to spa manager Avinash and executive housekeeper Vishal for making their best effort to make us feel comfortable and enjoy the hotel at the most. The spa treatment was very relaxing and soothing thanks to therapist Narvada and Mr and Mrs Radica.

A special night at the Heritage Awali

A fantastic dream in Africa's magnificent decor with exceptional aromas that touch your inner depths! The room is spacious, very tidy, and nicely illuminated. The beauty of wooden furniture brings warmth and comfort and is very classy. You are very close to nature's gift! Of course, the dedicated staff brings value to your stay and the buffet was lovely. The Heritage Awali is just too much! I recommend this hotel to customers looking for great accommodation and a unique experience!

An amazing evening

We are a family of 13 travelling in mauritus from London and the hotel by far exceeded our expectations. A very special shout out to Dylan and Akilash at the main restaurant for making our meals extra special with special service. A true asset to the hotel. Grounds amazingly clean and staff just so friendly and accommodating to every single need. This is my first ever review on trip advisor after many years of traveling and felt this resort needed a shout out. Thank you.

Fantastic stay, highly recommended.

We stayed at the Heritage Awali for 12 nights for our honeymoon and had a fantastic time. The entire resort is clean and well-maintained; every staff member is incredibly friendly and can't do enough for you; and every single meal was excellent - not a single dud. When you go all-inclusive, even at a 5*, there is a nagging feeling at the back of your mind that you make some sacrifices on food especially at the buffet - but this couldn't be further from the truth. Every single meal in every restaurant (and we tried them all multiple times) was excellent. The grounds are beautiful and we had not a single negative experience the entire trip. It is definitely more family-friendly than we thought so keep in mind that if you are a couple and want a completely child-free experience you may be better looking at an adult-only resort. This takes nothing away from the hotel itself though! Thank you to the staff at the Heritage Awali for a memorable honeymoon.

Heaven

Thoroughly enjoyed the resort. Location was ideal , not too far from the airport. Food was excellent throughout all the restaurants and the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome and as if we were very special.

Had a lovely time all staff great 😊 Alex in the villa is an asset to the hotel and made our stay an extra special one for us going above and beyond to help us celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. All food was delicious in all the restaurants and the bar staff are fab, everywhere is clean throughout the hotel. Entertainment every evening with some nights you could dance. Overall would recommend this hotel all rooms are lovely but the villa is exceptional

A great location to relax and explore the south of Mauritius.

After spending 4 days just north of Port Louis, we travelled south west to the Heritage Awali resort which forms one part of a wider estate including the Heritage Telfair Hotel, Golf Club, Beach Club, Nature Reserve and Chateau. Although we were staying at Awali, there is a shuttle bus that services the entire estate and I would urge guests to explore all of the facilities across the estate (also with the shuttle you can pretty much get anywhere in 3-5 minutes). For example we particularly liked the vibe at the C Beach Club so would pop there for lunch most days. Awali is serviced by a range of beach bars and restaurants, as part of an all-inclusive package. It’s worth noting that there are additional paid options like lobster or premium wines that are also available that the team can simply bill to your room (we were celebrating a birthday so did this quite a bit). Whilst there we tried the following restaurants - Savannah, Zafarina, C Beach, Infinity Blue and Le Chateau. The resort also organised a sunset cocktail station on the beach one evening which was brilliant, and a specific shout-out to Kolly who was great at whizzing up a cocktail for us depending on our mood. Also whilst i’m doing shout-out i’d also like to thank Anish on the F&B team and Nisha at Le Chateau. Both are superb. The Awali has a gym, tennis and basketball courts as well as Archery and other services. You can also loan mountain bikes to cycle around the estate. The gym is OK however some of the machines do need updating as they’re (a) a little dated and (b) don’t sync with Wearables like an Apple Watch. I’m a Runner so this was important for me but appreciate this doesn’t impact everyone. The Spa is great, and when the weather got a little cloudy we would head in for a treatment. They have an extensive list of services and treatments and they also offer a discount if you book a certain number of treatments. We visited Le Chateau which is the fine dining option on the grounds of the Estate. It was, as expected, incredibly professional and the quality of food and wine was outstanding. We were lucky enough to receive a tour of the chateau after dinner, which felt very special. It is also from the chateau where you can take a helicopter ride around part of the island. This is a fantastic experience and I would totally recommend as you see the 7 Earth reserve, underwater waterfall and you do a fly-by of the largest mountain on the Island as well as the hotel resort. A couple of small points I would raise that I think the resort could consider. I’m mindful these are very specific to me! I’ve already mentioned the gym but I would also like to talk about the room. We’re a couple with no kids and we were placed directly overlooking the kids pool. As you can imagine this can get quite lively and noisy which meant we didn’t spend so much time outside on our balcony. Breakfast (and coffee!). I love to start the day with a great cup of coffee and the coffee in the main restaurant wasn’t very good for me. Given the hotel offers other premium products with a charge I would quite happily have paid for a freshly brewed coffee, not a Nespresso, to get my day going! This is also why we liked the C Beach Club as they had a bean-to-cup machine. Very specific and personal to me but wanted to call it out. To summarise, we had a great stay and made some fantastic new friends. Thanks to Melanie and the team for being so lovely and accommodating in making our trip so special. We will certainly return to the Heritage estate.

World class family holiday destination

What an amazing holiday to spend with family. Awali is the absolutely perfect destination for any family holiday. Amazing facilities, service and people. The location is fantastic, the beach is pristine and there is such a lovely choose of world class restaurants. We will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful holiday at Mauritius we were really looked after especially by chef Francis and chef Kenny, who catered for our dietary requirements. We felt like we had a personal chef because each of our meals was unique especially on our wedding anniversary - special thanks to both of them. The hotel was well presented and had a lot of facilities. We would definitely recommend the hotel.
