One of the most lovely resorts in Mauritius! Perfect for couples, family and singles. There were so many activities, the food was fantastic + plenty of vegan and gluten free options at the main restaurant and buffet. The staff were so accommodation to our every need. We will be back again soon!

When you need to take a break from your busy days, Sugar Beach is the place to be. The large grounds and quiet surroundings, the cosy room, the food and drink, the ambiance. All those put together make a perfect blend for relaxation. Top that with the amazing staff, and the 2 days will definitely feel too short. Every single staff that I have met has something that is just amazing: no matter how busy they may be, there is always time to smile and greet. For me, there is no better way to make someone feel special. Shout out to a few of those that I remember the name. Front Desk: Vani, Jean Daniel, Vinay and Cindy Housekeeping: Tajveer, Emrith, Varsha and Samita Restaurant: Curtis Buffet: Akshay (great fish steak), Veenusha (AMAZING Pasta!!!!). Buddha Bar: Kevin, Noemie, Shan, Chumroo and Shirin Sports: Jerry, Natacha Spa: Vinisha, Nathalie, Vishal Gate: The lady who welcomed us and greeted us farewell and I didn't get her name 😓. A few others that we met during our stay and who were really caring to the missus and myself: Anuradha, Jennifer, Sachin, Georgina, Akshita, Reshma (Sorry to anyone that I've missed, I'll make sure to catch up next time... Yes, there will be a next time!)

The following staff members were out of this world in excellence, friendliness, helpfulness and experience. Nadine Luckeeram manager, and Medy & Bruno from Citronella and Sorab the barman on the beach was out of this world and amazing. These people have made us come back a second time and will go a 3rd time in 2024. I can strongly advise you to chose this 5star hotel in Mauritius

This is our second time to Sugar beach and they did not disappoint again. The first time was 10 years ago when we got married there and this time was to celebrate our 10 year anniversary with our 2 kids. We spent 5 nights here and wished we could have extended it as the family felt so welcomed and relaxed. The kids especially enjoyed the gorgeous pool, water activities (access via la Pirogue) and buffet breakfast. The hotel grounds are well maintained, cleaned and constantly being updated. No fault here. The staff were always attentive and proactively checking in on us to ensure we had everything we needed. Special mention for those who went above and beyond: Anuradha - she was walking pass as we checked in and listened to some our feedback we had about our reservation/booking experience and rectified it by arranging with her team a memorable anniversary dinner for my husband and I. She also constantly followed up to make sure all our needs were met. Big thanks. Secondly wanted to praise Chef Axel for his attentive response to my husband's dietary requirements. My husband has a number of dietary requirements and he ensured that every night he had a special meal made-up for him, including a cake for our anniversary. My final comment is that we are not your regular resort goers but with sugar beach we didn't want to leave.

Not quite as expected!

We decided to try the west coast of Mauritius this time as we had been to the east coast previously which was quite windy and without the sunsets. Less wind, wonderful sunsets and a fantastic climate in Flic en Flac. There were plenty of positives. Beautifully manicured grounds to walk around, lovely setting, great music and entertainment, first class food, very good facilities around the resort such as the tennis club for example. And, the house keeping team were really on the ball most of the time. Unfortunately, there were many negatives. And, a lot more than we expected! This resort is very geared to families which we sort of knew. For couples looking for peace, tranquility, romantic formal dining etc. you will not find it consistently here. There are a lot of untrained staff at the resort that was a real suprise to us. We have been traveling for almost 20 years and not experienced such poor service. Everyday something happened from ordered items not being delivered in good time, being incorrectly delivered or even not at all! In the end we just expected it and decided the best way was to accept this is just the way it works here. Of course it is not the fault of the staff it is the management above. We have never seen such a lack of management in a resort. Somedays it was just farcical. In 14 nights we did not meet any of the hotel management, it was like they were invisible! The reception/guest services was the worst we have experienced from start to finish. Unfriendly, unhelpful - all the things you would not have expected. On checkout we were not even asked how our stay was, just happy to take the payment! Not the way to value guests who are with you for two weeks. It is the little things that make a big difference. There should be water stations situated around the resort in this climate as with the neighbouring sister hotel at Peroque. You should not be paying to buy bottled water. The beach towel situation was very odd whereby you were given cards to get hold of them and received your cards back once you had returned them. No beach bags in the room. No umbrella in the room - we asked for one and it never came etc etc. The spa treatments were great but the pre spa steam rooms etc were mostly out of order. The beach and the sea look wonderful on the website but have a lot of coral so you need reef shoes. The sea is a maximum of say four feet and there is quite a lot of seaweed so not ideal for swimming. But, we made the most of it. The beach chairs are not great compared to other resorts and the beach service is pretty non-existent. We felt very uninformed with what was going on at the resort. Usually there is some sort of programme to know what theme is for each buffet night for example. We asked several staff many times and they knew very little maybe a day or so ahead. We gave up in the end. All in all we made the most of our holiday. Mauritius is a truly stunning country which we love and will return to. Our last stay at Constance Belle Plage was most definitely 5 star. This is certainly a 4 star resort. It is not hard to rectify though with better management there will be a happier team and everything should fall into place. To end on a bright note there are some amazing staff we would like to mention such as Pravesh in the Buddha Bar, Suranjari at breakfast and David's amazing cocktails at Citronella - the tiki beach is exquisite! Also, Elodie and her partner for the beach massage are amazing, we are so happy to have met them.

The Gym staff and activities excellent, Pamela and other trainers very helpful and even assisting with pool exercises in the rain! The boat outings for snorkeling are nice and the staff is friendly. Our room on top floor is wonderful and the view is amazing.

Excelent place to visit and have a relaxed time. Personnel is great and helpfull. I would recommend the Citronella’s restaurant. Especially the tuna pizza is the most underrated one with fresh (!) tuna chunks on it. Special thanks to Meet making our lunches delightfull.

Magnificent staff at Sugar Beach Mauritius!

We decided to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary by treating ourselves to an all-inclusive luxury 5star experience in Mauritius. There were a number of hotels to choose from but we went with Sugar Beach, a plantation-style resort, and, I have to say…..we hit the jackpot! We were not disappointed. The 10-days stay started with us being greeted by the reception team with ice-teas, cool flannels and enormous smiles. When I mentioned that we were celebrating our Silver Wedding anniversary they were so excited for us. They love a celebration!! We were shown to our room – beautifully stylish, spacious and comfortable set against a backdrop of palm trees and sea. I was in heaven! We had the most amazing time at the resort and all thanks to the dedicated staff who made us feel like one of the family. Being welcomed by Nadine and Cheryl from the reception team when we first arrived and then the team organising the return of my sunglasses case from the aeroplane showed me that they are prepared to go above and beyond to ensure my stay was as relaxed as possible and that nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were always delicious with a large variety to choose from – thank you to the all the chefs who prepared the mouth-watering Mauritian, Asian, Mediterranean, European foods – fabulous selections. And a big thank you to the waiters Keshav, Nisha, Vansesska, Suranjuni, Sweta, Bruno and Vikram who made sure that we had top quality service at each mealtime. Thanks also to Sangeet and Fazle for creating such delicious cocktails and the staff who were very happy to deliver them to me on my sun lounger on the beach. The highlight of our stay was the surprise celebration that was secretly organised by the lovely Anuradha who, during her morning mingling with guests, discovered the reason for us being there. She arranged, with Priyanka and the rest of the team, a memorable anniversary dinner at the Buddha Bar Restaurant at the resort. The chefs prepared such a delicious dinner including a special cocktail for the occasion. I didn’t get their names but a big thank you and to the staff who attentively waited on us! The surprise cake with the flaming candle completed a beautiful evening. When we returned to our room, we were bowled over by the sight that greeted us – our bed was decorated with the wonderful flowers from the island. How romantic and the artistry that was put into the creation was produced by Baboo, one of the housekeeping staff and his colleagues Ramchurn and Vanessa. My husband and I were lost for words! Anuradha and the staff at Sugar Beach resort now have a special place in my heart. I thought this 10-day holiday was our anniversary present to ourselves however the staff ensured that the actual experience of staying at such a stunning, charming and friendly place was the cherry on top. I left the hotel with a tear in my eye but a determination to return!

Incredible Sugar Beach Mauritius

As a well-seasoned traveller I can say that this is my favourite hotel yet. The reception area and its view give an indication of the wonderful experience that awaits its guests. The extensive and well-manicured grounds leading on to a long and stunning beach provide a space which is large enough to ensure a hotel at capacity feels empty – there are always sunbeds available and the ‘quiet pool’ is exactly that. From the moment you arrive the staff go out of their way to make your stay as perfect as they can; they are attentive but not intrusive. Nadine and Cheryl made our arrival special and Cheryl told us everything we needed to know as she walked us to our room in a torrential downpour. The House Keeping staff are meticulous in ensuring the rooms are perfect and your needs are met, whether it be providing super glue to fix a broken sandal or adding something to your fridge. Thank you to Vanessa, Ramchurn and Baboo! The three restaurants in the hotel provide a great dining experience with a variety of high quality food and environments. Keshaw, Vikram and Nisha in the Patio Restaurant always greeted us with warmth and excellent service as did Bruno and Sweta in the Citronella. The star of our stay was Anuradha who, behind the scenes, with the help of Priyanka orchestrated an amazing surprise evening for us to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Thank you to the staff at the Buddha Bar beach Restaurant for providing such a wonderful evening and Baboo for the incredible artwork we found in our room when we got back from dinner… Thank you Anuradha for going the extra mile to make this the experience of a life time and all the fabulous staff who were simply the best.

Wow!! What a place!

Sugar Beach is a fantastic resort. The staff were so welcoming and made us feel at home right away. We had booked a beach front room and were so lucky to be upgraded to a junior suite right on the beach. We were on an all-inclusive package and found that most of what we wanted in terms of drinks were included. Alain and his team could not have been better. Sanjeet was always happy to look after us and Alain made us feel like part of the family. We usually aren’t too impressed by the dinner buffet at resorts but this was amazing. Most of the food is freshly prepared in front of you and the chefs are happy to explain what they are cooking. Santoo and his team were really attentive and Santoo in particular took really good care of us; even to the point of taking our room keys that weren’t working to reception and replacing them for us while we ate. Sharmilah took great care of our room and despite our best efforts to turn it into a rubbish tip each day, she kept us in order. She was fantastic. I can’t recommend Sugar Beach highly enough. It is relaxing but there is always something to do if you want to.

Lovely scenery, let down by the poor service

My wife and I came on our Honeymoon for 10 nights in May 2023. Firstly, the grounds are stunning, picturesque and well kept, the beach is also beautiful. The rooms are good, clean, well kept and spacious. Wife was not a fan of the bed but I thought it was fine. When you visit a "5 star" resort, you expect certain levels of service. I must be honest and say the service, the majority of the time was abysmal. Many of the staff are either indifferent to providing a good service, or quite frankly incompetent or untrained. On the first day we had an issue with being put in the wrong room, upon calling reception, I was told somebody would come down and sort it. 30 minutes later, nobody. I went to reception myself, and was told to wait and someone would come down. Again, nobody. This took c. 2 hours to sort out and was not a good check in process. Morning number 1 and the fire alarm went off at 9:30am. It kept going for a good 10 minutes. We got changed and got out the room, asked a member of staff where we should go (the fire alarm is blaring...) he said do you need breakfast? Clearly not aware we were responding to a fire alarm. This later turned out to be a test, which we were not prior informed about. We had many nights in the buffet area. The buffet was hit or miss in terms of quality, but mostly ok, nowhere near 5 stars. The service for the buffet was horrific... Ordering drinks when we arrived, only for them to arrive 20 minutes later when we had finished our meals. Likewise, I asked one staff member if I could have salt and pepper shakers, as there were none on the table. She said ok, and they just never arrived, wondering if this was incompetence or lack of caring, as that is an incredibly simple task. There are several restaurants on site, which you can choose to book in and visit. The Italian one, Citronella, was one we were both looking forward to. I ordered a Carbonara, it was the worst carbonara I've ever had in my life, thin, watery sauce. Like a cheap microwave meal. Checking out was also more complicated than it should have been, the receptionist seemingly unable to work out how to settle our tab and just kept disappearing for minutes on end. Took probably half an hour to fully check out, not once were we asked how our stay was. One more thing to mention, if you want a few beers every day you'll probably need to go all inclusive. It's about £13 a pint. The local beer I also found to be very inconsistent, sometimes warm and often flat. Overall, whilst the grounds were lovely and we had a good time relaxing. The service put a real downer on the experience. I have honestly had better service in a McDonalds at times. There is no way this place can claim with a straight face it offers 5 star service.

We had a fantastic time at Sugar Beach. During our time there we were met with friendly staff at every turn and found it incredibly easy to unwind given the beautiful atmosphere. We must point out Anuradha, she was central to the great service we experienced and went out of her way every day to check in on us and make sure that we had everything we needed and were being attended to. The staff in the restaurant, the Lady in the Gym whose Name we‘ve forgotten, Imal from the Buddha Bar who made extremely Good Cocktails and the people in the spa. I booked the sugarbeach resort for the birthday of my husband. Everything was top notch from the start to the end. We were welcomed by the lovely girls Divya and Megane from the reception. Nadine made sure to serve us with something comforting as we both had a cold. Divya was so sweet and advised us and responded to all our queries during our stay. Special thoughts to Coralia and the housekeeping team who made sure to assist us with all that we requested. I wanted to surprise my husband with a birthday cake at midnight. Thanks to the very attentive and professional Reshma, this was made possible. A cake was delivered at 23hr57 at our room. This gesture was very appreciated as the team took note that I was vegetarian. Our room was superb and really clean. Loved the ambience there. Enjoyed all the food at the patio and the citronella restaurant. I must say that Mr Bruno, Sarvesh and Sweta make a fabulous team. Mr Bruno was very attentive to details. They made us feel so at home and at ease while taking into consideration that we had a cold. Everything was perfect and I will definitely have my dinner and lunch there next time I book the Sugarbeach. Thanking the Sugarbeach staff for their wonderful service as my husband enjoyed a lot on his birthday. Loved the immaculate lawns, white pristine beaches and amazing sunsets. Sugarbeach hotel is on our top of our list. Definitely coming back and recommending the Sugarbeach to closed and loved ones.

My brother and I really enjoyed our half board stay at Sugar Beach from 10-17 May including facilities at La Pirogue. All the staff treated us with respect, were very polite and helpful. Any problems we had were sorted promptly and to our satisfaction.

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing time at Sugar Beach. We would definitely return & recommend doing so in May as it is relatively quiet/lower capacity, so you may be given extra perks thanks to the lovely staff! Pros: - Everyone was generally very welcoming and hospitable - thank you especially for the extra touches like our anniversary cake! - Beachfront room was lovely, very comfy & clean, and with good amenities (although we had to request slippers) - Beautiful beach/sea & a lovely ‘quiet’ pool, always lots of loungers available - Buddha Bar cocktails and food - so delicious & definitely worth the price! Also enjoyed some of the evening music :) - Excellent buffet at the main restaurant - lots of choice & varied theme each night. Curries were especially amazing! - Also convenient you could use the sister hotel facilities for extra activities, restaurants etc. - together, you can’t get bored with the two resorts! Tips: - Bring sea shoes as there is quite a lot of broken coral on the beach / in the sea, so it can be quite painful unless you can find clearer parts! - Food & drink can add up if not included! Worth it at Buddha Bar but not at Citronella - Service is laidback, which is generally okay as you’re on holiday but we did have a couple of frustrating moments (e.g. on our departure)

We had a great time at Sugar Beach last week. The room was nice and clean. We really enjoyed the morning and evening buffet, the food was great and the staff were all very polite and courteous, with particular mentions to Vicky the cook, Suranjani, Vikram Nadan and Vicky from public area. We also really enjoyed our lunch at Bhudha Bar, food and service were just excellent, with special mentions to Shaan the bar manager, Hemant and Azgal who made our experience even more exquisite. We totally recommend Sugar Beach hotel to anyone looking forward to spending an amazing time by the beach.

Our holidays in Mauritius were great, it is a beautiful island with a beautiful natural, warm, and sunny climate especially on the west & south coasts. Our stay at Sugar Beach is really fantastic, with the people working there being extremely friendly & helpful, and the area and pools (2x) neatly maintained surrounded by nature & greenery. After a wonderful night's sleep in the luxurious room, we start the morning with a delicious breakfast with an awful lot of choice including sandwiches, croissant, crepes, waffles, yoghurt, various toppings, different fruits, and coffee, tea, or juices. Then enjoy the beach and/or pool to soak up the sun to get active after the delicious lunch (volleyball, canoeing, stand-up paddling, etc.) in between, you can enjoy delicious cocktails at the bar by the beach until sunset, and in the evening dine out at one of the restaurants with several choices of dishes while enjoying a drink and (live) music. In particular, we thank Anuradha, she listened to our wishes and tried to please everyone as much as possible, and advised us, incredibly kind and happy that we got to meet Anuradha, and also the reception, restaurant, gardeners, bartenders, housekeeping helped tremendously to have a fantastic holiday. Should you travel to Mauritius we can highly recommend staying at Sugar Beach, if we go to Mauritius again ourselves we will definitely come back here.

I had an amazing time at Sugar Beach. I can't fault any of the service from room service, bar service and food. All the 3 restaurants we went to had amazing food. The weather was good tonus as well do we spent a lot of time chilling at the beach. Anuradha the Executive Assistant was great. She came and interacted with me and made sure that our stay was memorable. Shan, Shaneel and Solomon at the Budha Bar, thank you very much for going an extra mile for us on my birthday. I enjoyed all the cocktails made for me at the budha bar were amazing. Shaneel even knew what my husband drinks before he even ordered. Stephan from reception thank you for your great and amazing service. We were welcomed so much. I appreciate all you did for us. Thank you. We will definitely be back.

Anuradha the Executive Assistant, my wife could not stop talking about you and how you are an amazing person and went an extra mile for her on her birthday and our stay here at Sugar Beach. Again, Asgal and Chamroo, thank you for tour service at the beach area. You were ready with the drink service whenever we needed one. Hard working people and making us laugh at times. We ate at all the restaurants and the service was perfect. I don't think we will he forgeting this ever. Thank you for giving us memories that we will cherish forever. My wife and I appreciate it.

We stayed at Sugar Beach for 10 nights in room 528 and our stay was simply fantastic. The hotel is located on a stunning beach and the facilities are great and well maintained. Being on the west coast, the sunset at Sugar Beach are simply unforgettable. The food was very good and diverse, with a different theme every night at the main restaurant. The room was spacious and well equipped, with a wonderful sea view. Above all, the quality of the service was nothing but excellent. A huge thanks to Fazle, Alain and his team, Jerry and all the animation team, Vikram, Nelly, Wassim, and many more whose names we unfortunately forgot. They all made our stay memorable and their sense of hospitality is world class. If you are looking for a 5 star experience in Mauritius, we strongly recommend Sugar Beach. A few areas of improvement: - We once had no water in the shower during the evening (between 18h and 19h) - Quality of the food at Citronella's could be slightly improved, particularly the quality of the meat which was a bit fatty - Not so many activities at night, although Buddha bar offers some live music until 23h - Pricing of the à la carte menu at Buddha is quite high These are however minor details and overall, we will definitely go back!

Hotel is very beautiful, we have gotten an upgrade to a 100m2 room which was very large an luxurious. From our room we had a view to the garden and sea. The people here are so nice. Sugar beach is a fantastic place for holiday. Excellent food, wonderful service and amazing landscape. We had a front beach room de luxe, just 20 metres from the waterline. The only thing is, and this is everywhere on Mauritius that you can hardly go far in the water if you don't like water plants around your feet Bute...the amazing pools 3-4 pools and not small ones let you forget this.

WE Celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at Sugar Beach . A great holiday resort with lovely accomodation , beautiful settings and amazing choice of food . However , the camaraderie and the friendliness of the staff is , in my opinion what set Sugar Beach above any other hotel I have stayed in thus far . This was our second short stay at Sugar Beach, the last being in 2012. Despite wet weather throughout most of our stay, the staff made this a very memorable and happy time. Urvashi, one of the hostesses was some kind, enthusiastic and helpful and really made our stay special. Staff were always pleasant and cheerful. I must make a special mention about Anuradha, an Executive Assistant. She spent time getting to know my wife and I and genuinely wanted to make our experience at Sugar Beach one that we won't forget. She took personal responsibility to make sure we were looked after and followed this up to ensure we were happy with everything. I would definately recommend staying here, especially with staff like Anuradha and Urvashi there!

Wow! It's hard to describe how beautiful this place is! Truly a beautiful resort. The lawns, the beach, the restaurants, the pools, the golf course... everything is amazing. I really loved the grand piano being played at night when you arrive for dinner at the main restaurant and the live entertainment. The food at the Citronella was really amazing but also really good all round in all the restaurants. The beach bar personnel were really awesome and always ready to the serve a cocktail or food, especially Asgal, he was very friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome. Shoutout to Asgal!! The rest of the staff was also extremely friendly and helpful and always made an effort to say hallo and to help whenever we needed anything. Rooms were clean, minibar always stocked. The receiption staff was very accommodating and helpful, making all the arrangements for my day of golf. The dive centre was well equipped with new and good equipment. All and all a really awesome stay. I don't really have anything to complain about... One word of caution, if you are planning on going to swim in the sea I suggest wearing water shoes. I highly recommend Sugar Beach! The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. The grounds were immaculately cared for and a high level of cleanliness throughout the hotel was ensured. There was a great variety of food served within the main restaurant I would like to personally thank Vanessa from House Keeping who was always very welcoming and friendly and did a superb job at ensuring our rooms were cleaned to a high standard! Another thank you, this time to Pamela from the Gym who befriended my Grandma. On our last day, she started shift early to say goodbye and give her a present on her birthday. We were very touched by her generosity! I wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Spent two weeks at the Sugar Beach Resort and had a fantastic time, thanks to the staff which is a great asset to the hotel. We felt very welcome and special. All our needs were attended to promptly without any issues. Anuradha, the Executive Assistant, has a chat with the guests at breakfast and is friendly and was attentive our needs ensuring that we truly enjoyed our stay. The atmosphere at the Buddha Bar is wonderful, thanks to Shan and Solomon who made sure that we enjoyed our drinks. There is a wide choice of food and beverages and the buffet dinner is scrumptious. Prakishit in the F&B made us feel special as during dinner, he would always check that we were enjoying our meal & drink. The room had been recently renovated and is so comforable. Cathy in House Keeping is a hard worker and nothing was too difficult for her when we needed any additional bathroom anemities. I strongly recommend this resort not only for its location on a beautiful beach but for how the staff make you feel welcome and at home.

Very nice hotel with great hotel facility (gym, spa etc.) and staff which has a great view on 'Le Morne'. We have felt very convenient and taken care. In particular to mention I would like is Anuradha Servais who has made our honeymoon very special which we will always remember. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful Honeymoon at the resort. We've been meeting some exceptional people who cater for all our needs there 😊 Ms Aashna from the reception gave us a warm welcome and accompanied us to our room, explaining to us about all available facilities. The hotel room was just "Wowwww" 🤩🤩 the wooden furniture provide the room with so much warmth 😊 At the Citronella's Restaurant, we met some other wonderful people who did not hesitate to help us withour meals, given that my wife is vegetarian and me, fisheterian. Chef Somrah was exceptional; preparing delicious meals, be it for lunch and dinner. Chef Axelle was also present and did approach us several times for our wants during the meals. We also had a lovely conversation with Ms Anuradha 😊 Mr Parikshit and Mr Saddul are two wonderful persons who were always present at Le Citronella's Restaurant; providing us with all services needed and always caring for us during meals 😊 Thank you to everyone and to the Sugar Beach Family 🙏🏽 Keep it up and see you soon 😉 Shanen and Ashna ☺

From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by care and attention. All hotel staff are very friendly and nice. The hotel is located on the very shore of the Indian Ocean. The views are impressive. We were met by a very polite, competent and pleasant manager Didier. He spoke in great detail about the hotel, gave an interesting tour, helped with the organization of accommodation for our entire family of 5, including two children. Throughout the vacation, he constantly assisted in planning a vacation and resolving emerging issues. Unforgettable vacation experience! Many thanks to the hotel administration, all the staff and, in particular, the manager Didier! We will definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends! Thanks Mauritius! We stayed at the Sugar Beach Resort on the Western side of Mauritius and had a wonderful holiday. We had a renovated room overlooking the ocean. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The staff at the resort made our trip even more wonderful as they are all very responsive to the needs of the guests. Anuradha, the Executive Assistant, comes to say hello at breakfast and makes each guest feel welcome and special. Phyllis at breakfast always made sure that we were served our coffee and tea. Shan and Solomon at the Buddha Bar were great and it was so relaxing sipping cocktails and watching the sun set. There is a large choice for dinner which we had included in our package. There is something for every taste. After a couple of nights attending our table, Prakitshit would remember which wine I preferred which impressed me. I recommend the Sugar Beach Resort as it is very welcoming and guests feel special and pampered. We will sure stay there next time we are in Mauritius.

All the staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. The resort also had an amazing team of sports staff who had various activities daily. Special mention to Talaivi, Guillaume and Atish from the sports centre, an amazing and enthusiastic team, very friendly and funny! We spent 7 nights here and we didn't want to leave!

Unforgettable holiday! We arrived to the hotel late due to a delayed flight, so we were extremely tired. The staff upgraded our room without even asking, which was amazing after the long journey we had had. Throughout our stay, due to it being our anniversary, the hotel gifted us with many complimentary touches; a surprise romantic meal at the Buddha Bar Restaurant, an anniversary cake, canapes and sparkling juice. Such a nice surprise! The location of our room was perfect as it was on a beautiful beach, but best of all were the staff-nothing was too much for them and the service was impeccable. We were due to check out at 12pm even though we had an evening flight but Anuradha, the Chief Executive Assistant allowed us to stay in our room complimentary until 5pm. We cannot thank her enough! Some other staff that deserve a mention; Merwyn from Reception, and Ramchurn from Housekeeping, all lovely people. Thankyou to all of you who made our stay unforgettable, it was much appreciated. I highly recommend Sugar Beach for couples, families, anybody who just needs a hassle free break.

I never leave reviews on here but had to for Sugar Beach, because it really was the best holiday I think we have been on as a family so far. Highlights- 1. Arrival and personal check in on with welcome drinks and towels, always a nice touch. 2. The rooms are as seen in the pics, spotless, gorgeous, comfy bed and pillows, clean bathrooms. 3. Turn down service and fresh water and towels offered each night too. 4. Food is divine, they don't just have random buffets, there are gorgeous plated starters and unique local salads each day. Curries and French food, obviously, are always delicious. 5. Cute entertainment and good singers and musicians at dinner. 6. Kids club is good and Staff are lovely with them. 7. The staff are all so welcoming. Big shout out especially to Kumar for being so friendly and helpful, and Elisabeth and Rosabelle. 8. Last but NEVER least, trust me, we went to each beach there including La Morne and not one of them had the soft clean white sand and mountain/palm tree view behind Sugar Beach. It is insane. You really don't need to leave the hotel beach if you don't want to.

We had the best time at Sugar Beach. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accomadating. The room was beautiful and the bed was so comfy. The rain shower was also fantastic and having the washing line in the shower was very helpful. The food was so good and changed every night with lots of variety and local dishes. The amenities such as the beach and the pool are lovely and have free water sports such as kayaking was really fun.

We had a wonderful week at beautiful Sugar Beach Resort. It is well maintained with lush tropical gardens and has a gorgeous beach. Pool facilities are very good with the quiet pool as our favorite. The room was very comfortable with great sea view from the first floor and had all facilities we could need (water cooker, coffee maker, minibar, complementary rum). All the towels (room and beach) had a lovely clean scent. We found all staff very friendly and helpful. Our booking was halfboard, the breakfast and dinner buffet were both very good, a wide variety of choices including freshly prepared Indian food which I greatly enjoyed and with good availability of healthy options. Nice live music in the evenings with amongst others a very good keyboard player. We also had dinner in the Buddha bar restaurant where we had various Asian style salads, meat and shrimp courses. Very tasty and again very friendly staff. The gym offers good fitness facilities and amongst others provides free classes in yoga (from Tina and Anita), which we really enjoyed on the lawn outside at sunset. We also greatly enjoyed various professional stretching sessions with personal trainer Satyam with immediate benefit to our wellbeing - thank you so much for this! Besides the treatment in the spa we absolutely loved the ayurveda style massage at the beach by Elodie and her partner - highly recommended, a very special experience. The resort has a partnership with neighboring La Piroque Resort where you find additional restaurants and several watersport facilities to use, including catamaran, pedal boat and SUP board. The very kind attention to my birthday celebrated with a nice cake with pictures taken by a professional photographer was a thing to remember

A fantastic holiday

This is our 3rd visit and once again we had a fantastic holiday. The rooms are modern and very comfortable and clean. The manager Jean-Marc Ma-Poon always had time to talk to us and ask if we were enjoying our holiday. The hotel grounds and the flowers are beautiful. The Mon Plaisir restaurant has a superior selection of food choose from .Everyone made you feel so welcome and always with a smile. Citronella restaurant right on the beach fantastic location wonderful pizzas a lovely setting for a evening meal and once again great service. Buddha Bar restaurant we had some fantastic meals and we would like to thank Kevin and all his staff for making us feel so special. We had some wonderful evenings at the Buddha Bar and some amazing cocktails they were so good kunal you and the bar staff are brilliant. We also would like to thank Kailash for being so helpful and all the staff for making our holiday we will not forget thankyou to everyone.

Had a lovely stay here recently, beautiful hotel with everything that myself and wife needed for some relaxation and quiet time together. Staff go out of their way to help in any way they can, including having our room ready early after our 28 hours total travel to get there when we were shattered. Grounds are well laid out and spacious. Only a couple of grumbles, the quiet pool which was our preference was not particularly clean for the first couple of days and the tiling was never cleaned at any stage which might be fine some of the time but not when so many birds frequent the area. Only other gripe would be that some forewarning of the very large wedding would be respectful to allow guests to make plans to be elsewhere, due to the invasive nature of such an event that took over much of the hotel, grounds and beach. Overall a great time was had and will be back.

We stayed here to celebrate our honeymoon, I am so glad we did! As a travel agent I have experienced being in many different resorts and many different levels of hospitality. Sugar Beach by far has been the best, and is currently number 1 on my list of best hotels myself and my husband have stayed at. Everything was beyond amazing, the staff were so welcoming, and friendly and could not do enough to please you, no request was ever too much hassle for them. The food was gorgeous (cocktails too!), lots of variety and different themes every evening, likewise with the entertainment. The grounds were immaculate, as were the rooms, pools and beach alike. We cannot wait to come back and visit Sugar Beach again, and we will be bringing the whole family next time!

I have just returned from Sugar Beach and it was absolutely amazing! Check in was easy and we had cold flannel and welcome drink on arrival. We were shown around by a lovely lady who gave us all the info we needed. I explained we were there as my husband turned 60 and I turned 50 this year so we decided to treat ourselves! The room was in block 5 and was clean, tidy and had everything we needed from tea and coffee making facilities to towels and robes. The Buffett restaurant is not typical of your average all inclusive! The food is all freshly cooked in front of you and the chefs will cook meat to how you like it. There was a lot of variety each night and if you didn’t fancy hot food their is always soup and salads available. Deserts are plentiful and again very varied throughout the week. We went to The Buddha Bar one evening for dinner and wasn’t disappointed! The food was sooooo good! We also tried Citronellas but I am not a huge lover of Italian food although my husbands pizza was delicious! The food quality was excellent. You can order lunch on the beach each day which is similar to the a la carte lunch in the restaurant. Lunch was again really tasty and the portions were huge! I can highly recommend the coconut pavlova for desert! Omg it is to die for! Cocktails were really great, I worked my way down the menu and found a couple I really liked and my hubby had a great choice of local beers as well as brands more well known. I was delighted and really surprised when one evening my husband and I received a birthday cake each from the hotel which we hadn’t asked for! It was so lovely. Such amazing attention paid to what I thought was a passing conversation! Excellent customer service. The beach was always clean and the gardeners were usually cleaning up the seaweed early in the morning. There’s a fair bit of broken coral so it’s a good idea to take sea shoes! Snorkelling was fab as the cove is quite shallow with plenty of fish, sea snakes, urchins and star fish to see! I also saw a couple of puffer fish! We used the spa for a couples massage and it was beautiful! A lovely welcoming space and the massage was really goodI asked for a back, neck and shoulder massage but it was more like an all over massage so don’t be surprised if your massage turns out different to the one you were expecting! We were given warm infused tea and encouraged to stay in the relaxation area and relax for a while. The resort has a lovely plantation style building which I popped in to look around and it was lovely! Lots of beautiful flowers and plants as well as a relaxing area to sit and watch the world go by. There is also a huge globe you can pay to have treatments such as a manicure or pedicure in. It must get very hot in there though! Although we didn’t get involved in day activities there seemed to be plenty of availability in the gym, tennis courts and activities such as aqua aerobics or darts! Although I would urge the hotel to encourage the activity team to help out with collecting glasses and serving around the pool as every day we witnessed staff stood about playing with a ball or generally waiting to entertain guests. They didn’t really make much of an effort to get guests involved in any activities really. The one thing this resort delivers that other resorts don’t is the level of customer service. There isn’t anything the staff won’t do for you to ensure you have a perfect stay. We were served daily on the beach by Asgal who worked so hard! He was friendly and pleasant and each day remembered our drink order. He served us tea on the beach each day and poured the tea from the pot for us. It was those little touches that made this resort a true five star experience. Asgal always made time to check we were ok and regularly asked us if we needed more drinks. He is a credit to the hotel. We were served each morning and at lunch time by a lovely waitress called Nisha who was very warm and friendly too. She remembered my husband prefers his morning cup of tea after his breakfast and made sure it was brought to him later. She was helpful and always looked for us each day. You can have dinner at the sister hotel next door La Pirogue which we went to one evening but actually didn’t stay as the queues were so bad for the food! We went straight back to Sugar Brach with no queues and amazing food! The TUI rep at the hotel wasn’t great (nothing to do with the hotel, just a word of warning). She promised to get back to me with a query about our transfer home within the hour but I never heard off her and had to find out for myself. I would suggest using the TUI app rather than Stephanie at the resort (when she is there)! We went on two day trips that I booked via Tripadvisor which were half the price of the TUI excursions and we had our own taxi and driver. It was lovely to see what a beautiful island Mauritius is. Make sure you take mosquito spray if you visit the botanical gardens as you get bitten to death! You won’t be disappointed if you go to Sugar Beach, I can’t speak highly enough of it. It really was amazing. We desperately want to visit again next year. Fingers crossed!

Citronella, the best of Sugar Beach

Incredible experience at the Citronella restaurant. A spectacular mint risotto. Really really incredible. Last year we traveled to Italy and we have been in Rome to restaurants famous for their pizzas and these are even better. but if the food is good the staff is at the level of the food. congratulations to Kavi who helped us with everything, to our waiter Danvish always a smile and to the chef for two great dinners.

Sugar Beach was truly fantastic! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we were in excellent hands! The staff are all wonderful, friendly and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and at home. The resort is immaculate and the sea views stunning! There are loads of activities and entertainment and the food served at all the restaurants is delicious. I loved the various themes at the dinner buffet, especially the 'street food' evening. The cocktails are great and there is a large variety to choose from. The boat house has an excellent team assisiting guests and offering plenty of sea sport activities. I highly recommend choosing Sugar Beach for your stay in Mauritius!

Beautiful resort with incredible staff

Just had a fantastic stay at this beautiful hotel - our 5th time. First time seeing the Buddha Bar - classy and beautiful although would have liked one of two more options on the AI menu. And looking forward to seeing the competed renovation which hopefully will provide some lunch time seat around the pool. And must mention the excellent breakfast buffet - something for everyone. But in all honesty it's the people that keep bringing us back. Always full of smiles even under pressure. From the bar staff, teaching my teens to make cocktails (special mention to the creative Kunal!), to Nalini organizing a sushi class and providing excellent service and banter at dinnertimes helped by Pravesh, as well as Shweta at Citronella. And of course the legends Fazle and Asgal around the pool, aided by Luka. The sports and teen team deserve and award - Jerry, Mario, Atish, Wes, Andrew, Talavi, Lovyn, Guillaume and Julien - my daughters have made lifelong connections and memories. And thank you to Scyam and Shirene for an amazing dinner experience at Buddha Bar - something we will always remember. We will definitely be back to visit our Mauritius 'family'.

Lovely afternoons at the poolside, overlooking the beach. Nice breeze this time of the year, evenings can be a little chilly but overall perfect weather. There is some construction happening so that isn’t ideal - but people don’t seem too affected and there’s enough seating space along the beach further down to avoid being disturbed. The service at the restaurant by the pool was wonderful. Fazel really took care of our family and gave us 5 star service. We enjoyed our time!

My first visit at Sugar Beach hotel. Upon my arrival till now everything was perfect and we really had an amazing time during our stay. Good quality food and cocktails • . But the service quite slow at the main restaurant. My special thanks to Mrs Bulbocus for her service at the Buddha Bar. Also seized the opportunity to thank Nadia Gopall at the Buddha Bar,Chef Mauree, Yashvin and Akshita from the sales department, Guillaume from Leisure team and also all staff who contributed to make my stay a special one. A big thank you to the Sugar Beach team and rest assured we will come again for your excellent servIce.

A year on from our stay and it occurred to me I never left a review, but we had such a memorable time I wanted to say thank you. First exotic holiday post pandemic and it really delivered.. great property, lovely spa, beautiful beach. The kids had such a wonderful time dipping in and out of the kids clubs, making new friends. And we actually got to relax by the pool and beach for the first time in years of holidaying with little ones. We all came back to the UK feeling fully recharged. If there were any areas for constructive feedback at the time, they were: 1. Main buffet restaurant - service not great at lunch. Go to one of the a la carte options instead which were all outstanding food wise. 2. Pools cold at time of year we went - needed thermal swim vests for the kids. Glad we planned ahead and brought these with us! 3. Kids club staff were amazing. Not their fault, but our kids felt it a little hard to join the main group activities due to language barriers with a predominantly French speaking group. Maybe needed a little more help/ encouragement from the staff to get involved.

I returned with my family again after a memorable trip last year. Thanks to all the good service from Pamela,Loretta and Isabella at the gym and keeping us fit. To the chef Mohammed for catering to all our needs and the excellent food. To Phylis in the restaurant thanks for your service and always smiling. To Fazle who looked after us at the pool and keeping us entertained. Rachad,Ittoo and Sorab for taking such good care of us. Also Vanisha at the spa for always being friendly. Julien from the sport centre always entertaining and very professional. These staff made our stay memorable and cannot forget their service and hospitality. I have returned to this resort for the staff and will do so again as they are so welcoming and friendly and I have so much respect for the work they do and always with a smile. We recently visited the hotel. We really liked the entire hotel complex and the beach. The food was varied, even if we sometimes missed cucumbers and tomatoes at the buffet :) The weather was perfect...not too cold and not too hot... A special thanks to the animation team. The guys are super friendly and motivated. My son spent a lot of time with them! Many greetings to Atish, Jerry, West and Lovyn! ;) Many Greetings from Germany!!

The dinner and breakfast was very exquisite and there are so many different choices to pick from. All of the food was carefully prepared and looked amazing. The view at the beach was very good and the pool was nice and warm. The manager Anuradha was very warming as soon as we arrived at the hotel and checked on us whenever she could. She made our stay very hostile. The hotel is very beautiful and the pool was very warm.

Nice and splendid week stay in May /June this year. The Food and general atmosphere was excellent. The Beach was wonderful with white clean powder sand. We also enjoyed the spa therapy under the good hands of therapist Manesha.

Multi-generational trip - something for everyone!

Travelled in June-July 2023, multi-generational family, 6 people in total Lots of research went into this trip as i had 6 people to keep happy! Happy to say all the research paid off and we had a wonderful stay at Sugar Beach. Overall first impression Its an impressive building / lobby, with a beautiful view over the ocean. Great first impression. Polite, attentive staff as soon as you reach the hotel. Check in All very smooth and as expected. Ice tea on arrival, a very polite manager allocated us inter-connecting rooms once he realised we were staying as a family (which we didn't request) and luggage was delivered to the room before we arrived. Rooms Spacious and recently refurbed rooms. We had one room with a king+ bed, bathtub, walk in shower etc and one with twin queen beds and shower. Both rooms had usual facilities, all very clean and lots of storage. Having our own porch was usual, good for lunch, chilling etc in the fresh air. Mini bar and fridge had good stock and the nespresso machine was a nice touch. Resort facilities All the included sports were brilliant. Snorkelling, paddle boarding, kayaks, pedalos, sailing etc - everything was high quality and you felt safe at all times. One tipis to book for the activities quickly and then adjust as things got booked up quickly. Gym was fully equipped and very well serviced by Pamela and her colleagues. Always on hand. The sunset yoga is a lovely experience and the other classes like the dance classes looked great if that's your thing! You are right on the beach and plenty of loungers etc when we went. Plenty for the seniors to do as well - bowls, yoga, walks etc. Food We are a veg family and i was worried about availability and cross contamination in the main buffet. However, the indian chef came and spoke to us the first day we were there and each day there was a great selection of food for us, largely kept away from the non-veg food - nice touch. Usual pizza, pasta, meat stations - all very popular so avoid busy times if you don't like to queue. The dessert station and salad bar are exemplary - amazing selection each day and it was almost worth skipping main meal and going straight to dessert! Breakfast was again full of variety - indian breads as well as usual array of fruit, fresh crepes, waffles etc and full breakfast as well. The breakfast team (Anand and anu especially) were super attentive and always on hand. You will not go hungry! Location There is a small supermarket / tours shop about 10 mins walk away in wolmar where you can get anything else you want. We were half board and just bought all our drinks /snacks here. Good for local business as well. Further up, about 25 mins walk away is flic en flac itself. Small town with food, tours etc and a supermarket and pharmacy if needed. If you are in the town, try 3H ayurvedic spa, great quality massage at a fraction of the cost of other places. Its a good location for those visiting as we were about 30 mins away from the north and 20 or so mins away from the start of the south tourist places. Best location for snorkelling this time of year. Overall, a great stay. If we go back to Mauritius during this time, we will consider sugar beach again, highly recommended. If you do not like noisy weddings, then check with your resort before you go - there were multiple weddings going on all over Mauritius and there were 4 whilst we were there. No issue for us but it was noisy into the night on some occasions. On the flip side, lovely to see the weddings of different cultures being celebrated.

We have traveled a lot. Visited many hotels and met many staff. When we checked in at the Sugar Beach hotel, we could not have imagined that we were entering another world. From that moment on we have met the friendliest people in this world. Just to name a few, Anuradha made us feel comfortable in the hotel. Always ready for a chat. Mr. Santoo made sure we had the best seat during dinner, always friendly. The ladies Vimala, Jennyfer, Nalinee, and Mr. Chandrassen take care of our drinks and everything we needed to enjoy a delicious meal. Many thanks to Dylan who brought us snacks in the room. We visited Sugar Beach in Mauritius in July as a family for my wife’s 40th birthday celebrations, and what an awesome experience! From the moment you step into the beautiful foyer your shoulders just relax as your every need is taken care of in five star style. From the beach dinner at Citronella to the amazing cocktails at Buddah Bar, the Beauty Bubble on the beach to the themed evenings at the main restuarant and the high teas, everything was just perfect for our family, thankyou!!
